bloody hell thats nice Have you got a pic of it in the dark at the front so you can see those blue leds working.
I am using car window tint like MacroMan used. It is so dark though it really dims my LED's So it may end up on the car, and the case will get 20% transmision. I have been watching your log, that case is coming out sweet. All these metal cases lately are tempting me to use metal in my media PC, but metal will have to wait for another project.
Thanks Zap, it's nice to have a comment from one of the MOD GODS. I experimented with both 5% and 20%, I liked the 20% effect better, though I did a terrible job with the tinting in both cases. I would love to build a custom case, from the ground up... but I just don't have the tools. I bought a dremel, first useage also, for this case. I'm also new to a soldering gun, jigsaw and working with acrylic/plexi. It's been a learn as I go lesson the entire way. Many screwups along the too...lol I just called a printing company and discussed what I needed. I'll finish up the graphic work and print one copy and put one on cd to take in sometime this week. I'll use bitmap... later DDK
The best dark shot I could get is on the last page, sorry...I used a Digimax 200 and didn't have much time to fiddle with the settings.. thats' about the best there is. I won't post pics of the final case until I get a camera that will take good dark/night shots. DDK
It's tall, it's black, it's silver and it's got blue lights. What more can you want? Don't be surprised if you come home one day and find a bunch of monkeys sitting in a circle around it and worshipping it, 2001 style...
Ah man..that's DAM funny...made my day! Thanks! DDK Can anyone help me with this graphic? I've tried PS to get a CLEAN PERFECT circle but can't...I need help Many thanks if you can help!
PERFECT! Exactly what I need!! I made the original and printed it off to make sure it was the size I needed, I just couldn't get the circle right..THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!! DDK
I took the images in to the printing company two days ago and got them back today. They turned out well and I'm very happy with them. I've spent the last two hours experimenting with the rheobus graphics and wanted to show you guys my progress! I have a little adjusting to do, but this is how they turned out. What I ended up doing was inserting a small square of sanded plexi in front of each LED. I had cut out the led area of the faceplate and 'bent' the led leads so they would be lower and next to the knob, instead of to the upper right) I then covered the area, minus a small section for each graphic, with window tint. This gave me the best look. I had to use my webcam so again not the greatest pics, but this will help you understand what I've been talking about.... Tell me what ya think! ALL of the leds TURNED off: All of the leds turned on full: One red, one blue: Red off, the graphic is nearly invisible when off: A close up to show how well they turned out, It's just what I was looking for...nice, clean text! I realize it might not be the most exciting graphic/text I could have used, but after thinking about what I wanted I decided on something simple and clean. They are listed as: Front Fan I Front Fan II Rear Fan I Rear Fan II I happy with the results so far..it's nice to envision something and then see it become reality. I had graphics made for the rheobus, vu meter, drives, power( though it does not read as POWER, it's really the case name) and 2 larger ones that I may use on the mobo side panel, lit with LEDs.. I also noticed after taking the pics, the colors are a bit washed out, anyone who has a Sunbeam rheobus knows they are dark red/blue.. they just didn't turn out well with the old webcam! Opinions?? Thanks guys and take care! DDK 12 graphics cost me $37.00 !!!
It looks like you have small vacuum displays behind there . If I ever build a HTPC I want to have glowing text like that for play, pause etc. Do you just use one single LED to illuminate each? How many MCD?
It's a Sunbeam rheobus, 4 channel, red/blue leds. I just relocated the LEDs by bending them down and cut a larger hole for them to shine thru You can turn them off and they change from red to blue at 7v.. So yes, it is one red/blue led behind each text graphic. This is the original look: Here's a review with alot more pics(and info) of the unit if you're interested:Sunbeam Rheobus review Thanks for the nice comments! DDK EDIT: To get some fresh air today, I vinyl dyed my 19 inch monitor!!
