Yes total pain in the jebend to fit but it's on an it's very good, I've slapped it on my 6950 really improved temps and the noise level. It's made me realise my PSU needs to be sent back because the fans got to loud!

Idles at around 30 max load about 48c ambients around 20c so it's doing rather well. But yes total pain to fit mainly the last stage where you bolt the unit to the CPU.

I have the X230 too, but with i7, Intel SSD, 8 GB of ram and two 9 cell batteries. I have to say that the quality of Thinkpads have decreased after it went from IBM to Lenovo. I've dropped my X230 few times, once it came down slightly canted to one corner (back of the screen - upper corner). Broken magnesium roll-cage on one spot at one side (between antenna cover and harder plastic on the back of the screen), small piece of plastic chipped off from the corner of the "base" and little bit plastic cracked near the SD card-reader port.

I really don't like the design and flimsy feel of the antenna cover on top of the back side of the screen : \ I don't know why they did it, it might give slighty better signal, but it makes the back of the screen weaker as it is in two pieces.

But the X230 is still running fine and doesn't really look that damaged! The old IBM Thinkpads just feel so much more solid... And now Lenovo took the "chunky" trackpoint keys away from X240 and integrated them on the touchpad with "buttonless buttons". Soon they'll take the trackpoint off for sure -.- Best mouse you can have on a laptop.

If I ever buy Lenovo laptops again, it will be some of the older models or possibly the Thinkpad Yoga -series if they feel good enough.

Adobe Creative Cloud for photographers, Photoshop for £9 a month was too tempting to ignore.

The reviews I have read online says to expect somewhere around 750-800 lumens. As for the longevity, I have a plan to rewire the lamp with a better gauge wire and maybe improve the cooling.

It's as much a fun side project as a need to buy a headlamp. I wasn't really willing to spend 4 times the price on a LED Lenser H14.

    70-200 f/2.8 IS L USM

There were 3 for sale that I was watching, all ending between ~10am & 2pm today- not much good to me as I'd be at work with no internet access. 2 of them were more or less immaculate, one was well used but still perfectly functional; I decided to bid on one of the nicer looking ones & hoped I won. I did... :D
