Sure. http://www.ebay.de/itm/150672481565 I'm not sure whether a German ebay link is going to help you, but you should be able to find something similar pretty easily regardless.[/QUOTE] thx do you know how its called in english?
Missed this one but well impressed, not only with your skill but also the tool pron. Being a bit of a tool collector myself I can appreciate all the more your kit. One question - what do you use to create the drawings that you print out and stick on? Is it a commercial CAD application or something free?
A very cool build indeed (phun intended), I especially like what you did with your fan controller as well as the button to control the LED's. I think I might end up copying that bit when I finally start my own build (not scratch BTW), and I hope you don't mind Anyways, I'm going to bookmark this one to follow the progress
You could do a brush finish yourself, just use a straight edge to run a sanding block in parallel lines. Bit of a different look than a bead blast, but it hides scratches just as well. And you can can also clear anodize at home pretty easily with a tub of battery acid and a car battery charger. Just a thought rather than paying for the finishes. In my experience people way overcharge for that unless you're doing it in bulk. Great metal work by the way, I wish I could bend and cut that accurately!
A second option would be to paint it and top it off with several layers of clear coating. That would be significantly cheaper anyways (you can get it all in aerosol cans). Great work though and I really like the metal look of the case so you would try polishing it up and just doing clear coats on it, but I have no idea how that would work in reality.
Oh yeah, brushing bends would be a bit of a nightmare I think, definitely couldn't use the sanding block approach.
it seems to work good on cars but I get where you are coming from. If you can get the anodizing at a reasonable price then you should go for it but all work that is "outsourced" tend to be way overpriced unless you either know a guy that wil do it at cost or you buy in large quantities. Just know that anodized aluminium can easily scratch when it's deep ones but with clear coating then you can always polish it out.
Nicely done mate! As for pci-e riser, you could go for something like this. Lian Li make quality stuff, heaps better than ebay junk.
