You can butter fry 'em if you want, but if you ask me not one iota of mushrooms or tomato are originally British either and yet we include them, so why not use olive oil, which does a better job for the veg, rather than butter?

Everything else in the meal which is fried should, of course, be fried in proper butter.

It's really not that hard. Stick stuff near heat for a bit, then eat it :p

In addition to what Da_Rude_Baboon said, black pudding is also actually a Scottish thing within our isles, originiting in the outer Hebrides. Of course, all full breakfasts are similar.

Mainly muesli. Or if I can then it would ideally be a full english with lots and lots of hash browns.

Ikea do bags of 6 frozen unbaked cinnamon buns. Surprisingly really good, if a tad on the small side. 1 is not enough, 3 is too many.... :)

Actually you can't claim black pudding as solely Scottish dude, it's been documented in the Black Country and the North West of England as it's origins in Britain. However, it popped up all over the world in one way or another.

I can just about see your justification for tomatoes, despite us having them here in the 1500s and widely eating them in the 1800s, but the mushrooms one I am curious about - what do you mean by that?

The last 2 weeks breakfast have been coffee with just milk, and rye toast and peanut butter. Trying to eat healthier but not knowing how to cook limits what I can make. Going to have to learn to make eggs or something.

I don't claim it's solely Scottish as such, nigh on every culture has developed their own form of blood pudding. I'm just claiming that the black pudding we eat in the UK, the style and type, originates in Scotland (Stornoway, to be precise).

Yeah fair point, I wasn't really thinking when I wrote that clearly. Still, we'll have had olive oil kicking about since the romans were here - let's face it, it's just a bit of inverse snobbery which leads to opposition to its use, it's a fine cooking fat and for certain things absolutely preferable to butter (fried veg being one of 'em, imo)
