http://www.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=24000&page=10 Hexus review. 480 GTX is NO faster than the 5870 at all resolutions and settings. Very poor showing for the new card, considering its £420ish at the cheapest on Scan!
I'm not surprised. I always suspected that the card would be expensive, noisey, hot and not actually worth buying over an ATI card ever since that article about the Fermi yeald was published elsewhere.
we are comparing minimal FPS, only bit-tech review sorts card in minimal FPS, that's why we should wait for bit-tech review.
That doesnt change the fundamental fact that the average FPS was exactly the same. Yes, the minimum may be slightly higher, but obviously not *much* higher!
Just saw the "preview" over at FiringSquad.com. Especially the Crysis scores are pretty underwhelming.
I was close to the right answer if it was 8xaa! 6 months late, massive price (compared to a 5870), and not much better than even a 5870.. hmm. I'd save the money and buy a 5870! (and save on power bill too!)
RESULTS: -1 FPS! Andy Mc won this mini-game with thehippoz and j_jay4 very close, -2 and 0 respectively. sorry Evoyear, too late, deadline was 11pm due to it's when NDA lifts
So... Considering that I didn't come with the wrong answer due to me not participating in the game directly, what did I win?
I'm actually a bit gutted I was so close now, I hope this release results in a bit of a price war, especially as they have quite similar performance, I just don't think Nvidia has the tenacity to stomach too much losses
I think it was to be expected that femi would not perform. They have spent the last what 3/4 months since the 5 series launch trying to match it's performance, this might be ATI's time at the top. NVIDIA need to start making more efficient cards, like ATI have done for the last few generations.
