We never know what's coming. Triple-width GPUs are becoming more common. I see more cases including riser panels so it's possible to use several of those if more and more cards wind up triple-width.

Sub £65? I think you can pick up a Supreme HF for that... Indeed you can. £53 from scan.

+1 to this, if you've got the balls to change the injection plate as well this is one of the best performing blocks you can buy.

... Nope. Not so far as I know.

The Supreme HF is a pain, but once it's assembled; it's sorted. And it's the best damn block you can get. Plexi top means you can see exactly what's going on in there too.

Ok on a scale of 1-10 how difficult is taking the block apart without ruining it and doing whatever it is I need to do? easier than stripping a 580 down its core?

Tell you what mate I am thinking of selling my EK HF Nickel block, as I want one of the swiftech Apogee HD 4 ports ,http://www.aquatuning.co.uk/product...Port-water-block-for-Intel---AMD---White.html thing is I purchased this around the time I believe EK where having there Nickel plating problems, so I want to run the system for a little while to make sure its ok

Oh and I've already taken the block apart and changed the injection plate so you wouldn't have to do that :thumb:

You change the injection plate because it makes a difference to temperatures. The injection plate helps reduce Laminar Flow, (Google it), which is good, because laminar flow blocks heat transfer.

There's nothing to worry about opening up a block - as mentioned above don't trap the o-ring (and don't cross the threads) but that's pretty easy, just seat it properly and it's impossible to trap.

However, I wouldn't use Vaseline it is a petroleum distillate after all, and depending on what the o-rings are made out of it could accelerate perishing - if it won't seat dry, try wetting it with water.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that the stock injection plate was about average, whereas the one I swapped it with made it one of the best performing blocks

Yes plate 1 is the best (with current tech etc) as it increases pressure and flow rate directly above the core(s) where it's needed most.

Think some people made custom cuts in blanks, can't remember how that worked out - it's an ugly block so doesn't really interest me :p

    Ahhh yes, jet plate #6!
