Thanks guys. Its just a shame i cant get to do much on it lately. However ive been messing about making a wooden switch mechanism so i dont use my usual anti-vandal switches. To say its been a pain is correct. Hope to show more soon.
It hasn't felt so long since this project started to me & it's progressed nicely, wooden switch sounds a nice touch .
Good news managed to route out rad clearance hole again. I wish i had cnc router but had to be old skool again manual routing for x/y/z. Was done by machine though so good edges this time. There was a slight error in the corners where movement on the stop points. Theese will get covered by a rad grill but none the less it peed me off. I wont be remaking this part again too much work involved to get to this stage. Front top hole also routed for more coolant viewing prob Mayhems aurora or something will need to see how the cash flow is. Anyway pic. Part is sanded laquered then resanded to super smooth waiting another laquering. Will be recessing the holes to allow glass in the front hole and rad grill to slot into main hole. Then i should be onto some carving after xmas.
The goofs in the corners could be fixed by boring out all the corners to match. It would look kinda neat too. -It may be the origin of cloverleaf cutouts.
Cheaps ive decided to dowel/fill sand and laquer. However once i fit a rad grill (which i dont have) it will be hidden which is nice. Ive got 1 rad grill and its one of them 25mm pitched ones for thermo rads.. Ive noticed that the rear panel is darker this is always the problem with not cutting all the wood in one hit. But ive gotta post a pic as finally a build that suits the noctura fans colour scheme (perfect colour matching i think ). Should be able to do the bottom panel routing tomoz and the edges to suit top panel also. If not maybe Thutrsday. Pic. The more astute of you will notice the Monster 3 Spoiler in the pic. Maybe that will be my winner on my future project.
Didnt really have any time but rushed this. Spindled out bottom panel edges so now have both top/bottom panels finished for side panels. Whilst laquering did the feet aswel as another coat for the bottom panel.
That was a fast response. I have some ideas for the side panels for secure fitting just to make things even harder for me. Looks like a need a new keyboard first dam eight and comma key not working. Im hoping to route out some vent holes on bottom panel tomoz but dont hold your breath on that. I need to also recess the psu section (comma) oh well.
Fantastic, I've never seen those noctua fans look right on anything but they look absolutely perfect with this Pablo +rep excellent choice of fans for this .
Yeah Waynio. I was a little surprised myself.(Trust me to colour match to the most expensive fans) Always liked the fans but the colours were a little odd. Was smiling very much when i put it up against the wooden panels. Trouble is i only have 3 of them the other 2 are located in Monster1 at the moment. They will be coming out though. Also it will allow me some colour mismatching with the wood. I had intended to have raw for the outside and stained dark Mahogany for the inside but i got a big No from the bulldog. (which he is prob right though dont wanna loose the grain of the wood). It hasnt been a perfect build with no cnc machines but the errors are very minor and shouldnt matter even though it will niggle at me a little. Cheers for the rep . I didnt want a mini itx pc but seemed silly working with wood and not attempting a wood pc case.
Looks really nice! wow! I'm not a huge fan of wooden cases.. but this one really has quality! Love the color combination with the blue and the woord!
Yay... Update. Have managed to get some recessing done today. I now have the rear vent slots if required, the front usb clearance, the rear psu drop down for alignment of the psu . I had the usual 3 holes for dowels, so as you can see ive decided to fill the 2 that i wont use that break through. The center hole isnt perfect alignment on the front vent holes, but most will be covered by the ssd rack, once made and fitted, also the filled psu part, wont be seen when the psu is in place. Overall im pretty chuffed given the time i had available to do this part. There is some sanding out of the pencil lines/relaquering etc and carving claws onto the psu fingers part (if you know what i mean), If not all will be clear once its done. Anyway you want pics.
Wooooooo an update & it's looking great , crazy project this with only having a few spare minutes at work to put into it but I like it so carry on .
Cheers Waynio, yeah whilst i managed to do more work than the norm this time round, Ive had to make sure main work comes first. This was a major part, so no reason i shouldnt be able to prep the side panels and put it all together as a main case, to test the looks soon. Its a pain that cash is not that good, as i would of loved to of got that silverstone PSU SSF type to slot it into its home and smile. The work on the inside parts, shouldnt be too much hastle.
Drilled for dowel holes to match other panels, as accuracy is key on this part i did it properly Still need dowel holes in rear panel, so rear panel is lodged in for the pics. drilled holes for phonos also, whilst i was at it.
