580 would surely score even less if you enabled 16af Since the 580 is at 4 af at the min Both should be run on 3.0 though 2.5 is outta date
GTX 580 Classifieds SLI stock 900/2106Mhz (Flashed with Classified Ultra BIOS) Single GTX 680 Stock. I will upload a Stock Classified GTX 580 Single card performance for real figures, for comparison.
You do need to bare in mind, that the Classifieds have a high standard OC on them. But like I said, there isn't much in them. Still, I'm not complaining, as I'm getting a free Step up.
Different CPUs though, so that might have an impact on the scores. Just look around the web for one of the many reviews where both cards have been tested on the same test bench.
Isn't the 2700K suppose to be slightly faster in games compared to my 3960X? So that may close the gap a bit more. Still, I will do my testing when I get my GTX 680's.
Sure, close, but you are comparing a heavily OC'd 580 to a not-at-all OC'd 680. Yes, a 580 Classified at 900mhz, gives the 680 a run for its money, but I bet an OC'd 680 will give it a damn good thrashing.
Interesting. My previous results are with the drivers 296.10. I have now just installed 301.10 drivers on my GTX 580's (Hacked) So will re-run it again.
Well just tested the 301.10 drivers, and there is no differences in performance. So it looks like Nvidia drivers are at optimal performance for the GTX 580's at least. @Dead beat - If it wasn't for the pure fact of getting a free Step up to the GTX 680's. There would have been no way I would sell my GTX 580's to buy GTX 680's. In the SLI Heaven test. The lowest FPS I saw was 39FPS going through the dark corridor. The lowest FPS was recorded at the begin of the Benchmark, which we all know is broke. So for anyone, wanting to upgrade from GTX 580's - I would wait till GK110 comes out.
My min FPS was recorded at the beginning of the benchmark too. I also saw the 680's as a bit of a halfway house. I thought the bump in Vram would be nice, while I wait for GK110. The 680's will also have better re-sale value when that time comes. That said, they do still give me a much more satisfying BF3 experience than the 1.5GB 580's did. I'm still debating whether or not to put blocks on them. With a bit of an OC i think these cards will be really rather fast.
It's a power limitation at present though - not one of heat. I really don't fancy hard modding extra PCBs on (like Kingpin), just to overclock.
Don't suppose anyone who's made the upgrade from a 580 to a 680 has noticed any performance boost in the CUDA stuff in 3DS Max?
Wonder how much of a power limitation it really is, once some full cover blocks are Out I'll find out
Anyone else have there WEI rating drop to 6.0? I was 7.7 with 2 GTX260's and now I'm 6.0 it's nothing major as it's not a proper bench mark but it annoys me that it's now so low :9
