This project is absolutely gorgeous. I love your work so far, and its awesome to just picture what one of those ccfls will look like lit and in its inox home. I have to agree with everyone that the sketches look amazing. What type of pencil are you using for those drawings?
May I suggest resizing the pics to 400x300? They are quite big. I think the thread would look nicer with that resolution. We could see several pics at the same time. Apart from that, this mod is a A+++.
Okay: I will do that! For those who want the high-resolution pictures, this is the link: link to high resolution pictures greetz, Dries
Voilà, all photos (except for the original concept drawing ) are in resolution 400*300 right now. I hope you like it better now...
Hi, I want to thank everyone for their fantastic, positive feedback! Thanks to you all ! But I'm facing a little problem right now. I want to mod my PSU and I want to use XLR plugs to connect my hdd's, dvd's, floppy etc. on to. But I want to put some aluminium sleeving round it which is not as thick as a showertube. I've seen Velleman offers these kind of cables with metal sleeving but they are way too long and way too expensive (here's the sample picture: Velleman metal sleeved XLR cable) I ask you where I can find such thing or mainly how it is called in shops. If there are people from Belgium (especialy from Flanders) they may reply in Dutch in this thread or via PM (as you please!). I hope to hear from you soon. greetz, Dries
little update Hi, Last Sunday I had the time to work some more on the mod, so I finished all but one last inox cilinder in the mill. I also have my XLR's PSU plugs sent today which is great! Also I bought myself an AGP Riser Card so that the graphics card won't touch the plexi top plate. I'm afraid serious work on the casemod has to be postponed till the beginning of summer holidays. But that doesn't mean I won't do anything until that time comes, not at all! I'm toying with some wild ideas about stealthing the motherboard with a inow plate etc. Also I found myself some aluminium cable sleeving which is quite neat... I'm also thinking about doing some serious sketch work to keep you infomed of "mental" casemodding progress! greetz, Dries
UPDATE: sketchwork Hi, As promised I serve you some more sketches today. I made them yesterday night at 12:00 PM (after I got back from Star Wars EPIII, which is fantastic by the way! ). They show how some of the cable-stealthing should look like. You can see the powerconnector going out of a DVD-drive and finally ending out in a marvelous shiny XLR plug! Have fun watching! Oh and by the way, comments and recommendations are always welcome! More to come soon!
Damn dude, your sketch skills are awesome! I really have a lot of respect for that because I can't sketch at all!! Keep up the great work; I can't wait to see the paper images turned into a reality. Nick
