Should I paint the outside black (then varnish) or simply varnish the veneer?

Aw, lookit the pretty braiding. ;)

Similar to what I was doing just the other day when my solder station disintegrated. I'm talking about tinning and soldering wires, not the fancy braiding/plaiting thingy. :worried:

Tidy looking job, Carrie, keep up the good work.

Dan, I'd call you a perv but I know that'd make your day so I'm not going to :p

I'm going to ruin your day too, Dave. No LEDs in this one (apart from power/hdd activity). I'll refer you to the OP:

Strangely enough my lounge doesn't resemble a fairground :p

Time to set up and test the hardware :)

Remember that awful yellow cooler fan?

Now it looks like this, a nice metallic blue :D
    [IMG]

So, next step to put the basic rig together:

With Win7 64bit installed and boot timing from shorting the power leads to Googling in 30 seconds (it's only a sata 3Gb/s boot drive :p) it's now up and running :)

But not for long I thought :(

I put it together on the coffee table that I'd moved near the TV/AV amp to test and forgot all about it. Later on I sat down on the couch and pulled the coffee table back to its usual position only to hear an almighty crash as the mobo tray, psu and blu-ray drive all dropped to the floor :waah: which is where it remains

    Still works though :D

Now, I defy you to spot the msata boot drive without looking at the manual!

    Yay, more updates.

I'm loving how tiny those ITX boards look :)

Edit: That metallic blue looks fantastic. Would you paint the Zotac fan to match?

Your lucky nothing broke there ;)

Compared to fluxtatic, you are, sweetie ;)

I have mood lighting in my lounge already if/when I want to use it ;) Mind you I suppose it depends on your mood :p

Finally, the case is beginning to take shape :)

Thanks to the bench saw (and drill) I now have a 6mm step in base of the sides to mount the vented case base, and still have all my fingers and thumbs :thumb:

Damn it brad guns can be fun :naughty:

and with some gorilla glue ...

We have a clamped box :)

I've got to leave that to set off for a few days so I'm off to have some fun with my storage solution now ;)
