I'm very sure DEFCON hasn't walked away from doing this, his LOTR mod he just finished took a few years to complete but wow it was worth the wait  I expect this one will take him some time & will be very much outstanding once finished too :thumb:.

The work continues with the arrangement of the wires for the power of LED strips, definitely will get four threads to branch (two for the white and the other two for purple).

Sanding the fiber optics, will that make the light show all along the strands?, logic says it will but not sure. :)

Going to be magnificent this Emy, very ambitious as always. :hip::dremel::rock:
Like the USB ports saying peekaboo. :D

As I work in fibre optics I'll field that one.

The core, is the central part of the fibre (or fiber if you are an american heathen). This is were the light travels through TIR. This will have a cladding around it to enhance the TIR and prevent light loss. This would be called bare or primary fibre.
Most will now have a coating on top of this, all of these will be clear so to the naked eye they are difficult to tell apart.

If you want to make light escape from the side to get what is called 'side glow fibre' you will need to get down to the core to stop some TIR.

    Hope that helps out.
