ASPHIAX You have the Main to a great modder that are ideas Now I'll wait to see the execution _________________________________________________ Ulysses Cazuquel Silver Dragon "New Sponsor Gigabyte" Pag18
I think the Q have payed you a visit my friend for that is the only reason you could have such a wildly distorted view on reality !! LOL ! Kidding aside, I have and still enjoy them both thoroughly only I do like the design of the voyager better!
Thank you ! (I think?) What i have noticed so far is that almost nothing went as planned, but stepping outside the comfort zone is what is the most fun to me as it forces me to think creatively. The sheer beauty of some of the cases on this forum (including yours!) will push me to boldly go ... Thanks ASPHIAX
Week 3 recap Was able to squeeze another couple of hours : how to be creative with foam ! Started work on the deflector tunnel For some reason i was craving for a good kebab... Shaping HOMER SIMPSON : HMMMM KEBAB !!! Ok, a little flash forward, all that cutting ... Quickly made a couple of pieces of foam for the pylon and warp nacelle To compare: Nacelles down To Compare : Nacelles up And the final state for today Untill next time ! ASPHIAX
As a self confessed trekker (ihave the tattoo to prove it) i must say this case ROCKS!!! Well done on the idea and the execution so far, look forward to seing more of it *Subbed* So have you thought about adding a midi file with the sound of a Starship jumping to warp for when you turn the computer on?
I was playing with this idea when the ship is preparing to go to warp configuration. I have received the schematics for the electronics that will make the warp nacelles tilt upwards 45degrees. Thansk!
Love it. Just wondering (trekker alert) what is the docking port on the front? Looks like shuttle bay but Star Fleet vessels always have the shuttle back at back. Anything in the drawings that i am missing? Keep it up!
Here is the sequence from endgame! (credit to DREX!) According to this it is the auxiliary navigational deflector
Ok, Here are another set of pics Spend the whole morning thinking, looking, sketching on how to place the Canope on the baseplate. The baseplate is a MDF panel on which the Mobo and radiators will be placed on top and the PSU, HDD's and pump(s) on hanged on the bottom. It will form the backbone of the case (if you can still call it a case ) Together with the Canope on top, the Deflector Tunnel on the bottom and the pylon partition at the back it will need to provide the rigidity and connection point for all the hardware and the electromotors for the movable Pylons and warpnacelles. *EDIT : Ablative Armor actually does not allow warp (as far as i can tell) So the EURISKO will devaite from that point by allowing the ship to reach warp configuration. http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/Ablative_armor The baseplate! I made the baseplate a couple of cm smaller than the canope. Here's a little trick I found. I only want to cut to the exact depth of the baseplate. So i measured the thrickness of the baseplate. marked it with tape on the knife If the knife flows along nicely through the foam, if it starts "jumping" you're to deep. EASY! Let the plucking begin! This weekend also POPCORN! Needed to get the middle piece out. Not a quick job. Perfect Fit! Exactly the right depth. The canope now has a wide support rim on the mdf When the canope gets covered with epoxy/glassfiber. Also filled the little holes and cracks in the deflector tunnel. Also made the wing partition. It looks a bit big but these are the unfished elements. The Tunnel looks a bit strange but that is an optical issue. Quickly put the whole thing together. i cant remember how many times i have done that. got to keep checking Sunk the wing partition into the deflector tunnel No we have a nice wood on wood connection (Hout = WOOD !!!) to create the backbone Worked my ass of whole day and it looks exactly the same as yesterday ! Oh well, those days are also expected right ? Laterz ! ASPHIAX
I like, but the fiberglass process has me worried. Are you going to use this model to make a silicone mold, or will you add the fiberglass to the outside? I warn you that simply adding fiberglass to the outside will not get you the results you want. +1 on hanging it up. I can't see any other way to have it.
Ok Here is the final update for this weekend. The bottom half of the saucer and side pieces are almost finished. It was a big job thinking my way out of this. And again the breadknife ! Little test fitting The double chin ! Creating some depth And another fitting moment Also got to keep the hardware in the back of the mind Smoothing out the depth Black circles are area's where the breadnife needs to be applied With the main deflector Making the correct flow to the deflector Better ! When there is no "hot wire" to cut the foam I need to use brute force ! The thin sideplates Smooth flowing design ... While i am posting this i see a lot of room for improvement. the connection between the bottom saucer part and sidepanel needs better flow. Laterz ASPHIAX
Thanks for your reply! The whole fiberglass thing is worrying me too. I have switched backwards and forwards between making a negative/positive mold and just making a positive mold. I have made a descision now though. I will go for the negative/positive approach. Been talking with some airplane model makers and they have convinced me of the smoothness you can get for this approach and offcoure there is the fact that if i screw up, a new one is made within 2 hours
Here is another update! First thing is that the order for the movable wings or Pylons is complete!!! Had a friend over yesterday and together with him looked at the options and best way to appraoch it (Edwin and Jo, Thanks guys !!!) Once you understand the basics its quite easy and for a couple of euro's you can add a seriously kick-ass addition to your mod! Offcource you have to build it, test it, make it invisible to the eye ... To see How the model is going to look, I taped the end so the model is becoming more clear. Also started work on the main deflector. This is going to be very cruedly put into the epoxy. I am going to use depron sheets to finish the design and put either an blue enermax fan or leds behind it. looking forward to that work ! The Canope is sanded and armour plating has been enhanced. This easily makes visible where i need to put some time and attention in. Took the pylons off to asses the correct angle of the tail section. Once the Canope is formed the servo assembly can be put into the tail and the bottom section can be put into epoxy. Laterz ASPHIAX
I like it, so far so good (even in this state its better than any mod I have ever done lol) I just hope you aren't modding in lyrca "a la" Captain Kirk style
