I've been trying to find a good cider, critically one which is commonly available in the US. Come across a couple so far, Spire and Angry Orchard on the off chance anyone's had them and cares to comment, but both are somewhat regional and only carried in select stores. If anyone has any suggestions which are likely to be had in the states let me know!

I'm going to save you a lot of hassle and say that those who don't drink bottled water will typically never see why others do drink bottled water and vice versa. Some drink bottled for the taste, fair enough if you prefer it, some drink bottled because of a vague fear of "chemicals" and the benefits of "minerals".

Me, I prefer to be "that hippie" and say bottled spring or mineral water is crap, if you're not drinking it right from the source straight out of the ground it may as well be tap. :D

Lots and lots of cointreau... It is only €14.42 for a 70cl in my local supermarket in Belgium, taking 3 bottles back to Glasgow tomorrow! It is £18 for a 50cl at the local supermarket in Glasgow, will be bringing my 7l allowance of spirits to the UK after the summer...

Polish friend from work found out I liked the stuff and told me (ordered me) to try it with apple juice, got some apple juice on my way home tonight and oh my word, I doubt i'll ever drink anything else again.

Currently my poison is tea, yes thats right tea. Drinking too much coffee has been one of the contributing factors to my insomnia - according to my 'quack'.

Not really much of a big alcohol drinker nowa days but can put it away when required, just as well really as I got my mates birthday tomorrow

What kind of tea would that be, then? There's lots of different kinds and afaik only the herbal teas (those fruity ones) don't have caffeine.

Despite contaminant regulations being less lax for bottled water, contaminants which come from the bottle and the fact that nearly all bottled water is tap water anyway?

Random fact: Zubrowka mixed with apple juice is known as a "Frisky Bison". I laughed.

    On topic:

I'm not a beer drinker sadly. I'm not a fan of gassy drinks so regular larger just doesn't sit well with me.

Cider in my local area seems to have taken a dive too. THe local that used to sell a few specialist items has closed down so now I'm limited to Bulmers, Magners or Strongbow. Strongbow tastes like arse and for some reason I find Magners and Bulmers hard going. i'll have to look and see if there are any local breweries around producing something more flat and cloudy.

I just finished my bottle of 16 yr old Rosebank whiskey. Was really rather good but as the distillery no longer functions the price of their few remaining bottlings are soaring in price.

Next up is a Bruichladdich of one sort or another and then I have a few rums to work on.

To be fair, the ACTUAL belgian InBev beers are quite good, jupiler is a stunning lager and nothing in the UK comes close. Is stella inbev? Not sure, but belgian stella is bloody amazing.

I have a house about 15 minutes from The half moon brewery, and brugse zot being also one of my long term favourites. Currently fallen out with it a bit after drinking too much.

Lovah - do you like/have you tried Tripel Karmeliet? Such an amazing beer.

I'm not averse to a drop of Orval either :)

If anyone is looking for an epic english cider, look out for Gospel Green Cider. Made in the champagne method (allegedly, although I am not convince considering the sediment it throws), it's a very good dry cider. Dry though, REALLY dry.

Good to see some Goblin drinkers about. Had some Green Goblin the other night very tasty but can be a bit hard to fine at times in Oxford.
