I don't get this view point, it's not a scam. The devs tell you exactly what you're getting for $1000, no more, no less. They don't lie, cheat or fob you off with anything that isn't untrue. You know presicesly what you're buying when you buy it. How on earth does this quantify a scam? And besides, something is worth however much someone is willing to buy it for, and given 8 people bought it, it clearly must be worth $1000!
