Imagine what will happen when EA decides to shut down their authentication servers for those games that you have to authenticate online? We all probably have a 5+ year old game that we still like to fire up from time to time. No server to authenticate to, no install. No wonder people pirate DRM games.

I believe they've said they'd make patches available to remove the activation if they were to take down the servers

    I sure hope so.
By the way, what was that sierra game where you played a detective solving a case. I miss that game.

Oh wow this blows. I actually own almost that entire list of games; now that I think of it, Sierra composes half of my games... I wasn't online much, but they're obviously not giving a second look.

The one where you play as a woman? And everything is 70's flower-style and whacked out?

No one lives forever, although I only played the second one. Good fun though, if it's what your thinking of.

Tribes 2 was still being played =( Not that overly many, but getting a 40-person server full still happened frequently. But oh-well, a master-server work-around will be in the works :D

Loved Ground Control, graphics scaled very well with newer computers ;-)
Couldn't get the hang of Ground Control 2 though.

The first NOLF game is still worth picking up. For eight year old software, the Lithtech engine holds up pretty well.

OT, were people still playing half of these games online anymore, anyway?

i would whine and cry about T2 going down, but honestly, i havent played it in probably 4 years.

I did spend most every waking hour playing it for the first couple of years it was out though ... but between the horrible 3rd game and the release of BF it really died some time in 2004.

If they made along the lines of AvP2, yes, and it'd be glorious.

Hardcore on AvP2 still gives me a few frights.

Now imagine if they did make AvP3, and including scripted events with xenos popping up here and there, they added a random factor of having a group (or one) xeno bursting out of the ceiling, wall, or floor at you.

Having your motion sensor detect random movements, etc.. Man, I really wish I knew why they decided to abandon the franchise (and hope AvP3 still comes out sometime..)
