Omnipwntence. That shows your current score and if that particular post has got you anything. It's badly worded, but hey, it's vBull.
they don't make sure they don't overlap. if two moderators like your post, you get reputation twice. and the button to add to your own reputation is just a case of bad labelling, it just tells you the reputation you have recieve for that post. it all still seems kind of pointless to me. the forums are a fairly close community where everybody already has an implicit reputation with the other (regular) users. everybody knows that nexxo is the great philosopher, and mankz is the class clown, glider is the linux guy, etc. the little green bar graph doesn't change that. and it doesn't really tell the new users anything either: should somebody with a hardware question listen to me over somebody else because i have two green bars under my name and the other person answering the question only has one when that reputation came not from being a hardware expert but from being snarky?
why is mine grey now? it used to say i had 10 rep points (how many points is each thingy worth and where did I get those from) have i been a bad boy? edit: looks like i have
In the 'Whats new' section, you mention we can request rep be given to a member if a post is good / bad. Can we use the report post button for this - I don't know how vBull works when a post is reported, but I did notice there was a comment box earlier - can we type something like 'Please rep 'forumite' for 'reason' to share the love? Or will it just delete the post?
Reporting a post simply emails all the moderators a link to the post with a detail of who reported and what comment they left. It's a possibility that reporting could work as a way of asking for rep for a post but I'm not sure whether it would cause confusion.
This is why I suggested a second button, saying "give rep" or something. Wouldn't automatically give rep, but provides a quick and easy way to alert mods.
Just a quick one - it appears the thread is split into two people -People who want everyone to be able to add to reputation -People who want only mods to give it How about this (I'm not telling you to do it - just a suggestion to mull over) Members who have been here for longer than X amount of time, or have a postcount higher than Y can give rep - everyone else can only receive. That way, trusted / long standing community members will be able to give rep to all, while newbies cannot abuse the system. Whaddya rekon?
Users can now give positive reputation to others. We will monitor what is given to see if it is being abused.
Great! But do we only add rep for all new posts, or is it ok to do so for previous examples of great insight?
Can we tell who gave us rep? I've received rep for a couple posts recently, along with comments which show in the CP, but don't know who to thank for them.
