http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Disp...u+Widescreen+LCD+Monitor+DVI+?productId=30640 I'm in the market for a new gaming monitor although I was planning on waiting until March/June but this seems like a deal I might as well go for. So is this an excellent deal or just a fairly good one?
aha! Another chance to pimp my user review thread http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=151179&highlight=yuraku I'm still very very pleased with mine i must say
I'd get it but......is there a 1:1 option? Would want to hook my Xbox360 up to it...what happens when you hook is up to a 1080p source?
tempting to get one myself, even though i'd be doing the same as the above -- hooking it up to an xbox 360. nice review though xtrafresh makes me a little more open to picking one up at least!
I've got a 360 myself and was planning on using it anyway, do you want me to tell you how it goes before (if) you buy one? Edit: I'm going to check the sound quality with the Xbox plugged into the screen speakers as well, it's either that or plugging it into the line in on the computer. Does anyone know where to buy 1-2m or so Female-to-male 3.5mm Audia jack cables that doesn't cost the price of a good steak and chips with a couple of scoops of belgian chocolate ice-cream for dessert?
I see it states it is a TN panel, the earlier ones used to use PVA panels did they not? I know the Digimate equivalent uses a PVA panel.... ________ Marijuana card
Ive just seen THIS on the dell site, might be worth a look i have no idea if its any good but it does look interesting for the price!
think i'll call aria and ask em about the panel and scaling with 1080p source can you do 1080p over VGA? I think that Yaruka is a bargain, gonna get it just need to confirm will meant my needs
wow, but......why such a high res? I like the S2209W myself but that doesn't have HDMI and audio in/out and well A STUPIDLY HIGH RESOLUTION!!!!
I doubt even if it didn't have 1:1 you'd have issues with a tiny amount of scaling, tbh, I run on my 28" 1920x1200 screen in 1920x1080 and I have no issues even in window with some stetching. The screen speakers will probably be really poor, I'd suggest spending £20 on a cheap 2(.1) set of speakers and using that. Aria do a extension for £1.60, you can probably get one off ebay for cheap because maplins are now charging A LOT! (£6) or try somewhere like £land
im having trouble doing exactly the same thing with my ps3, so far as i've worked out im going to need a composite to 3.5mm jack converter and a female to female adapter so i can plug my speakers in and a hdmi to dvi cable for the picture, would it be too much to ask for sony to provide me with a 3.5mm jack? also what type of picture will i get from a 22" 1680x1024? are we looking at 720p?
There are variations of the Yuraku, sold under different names, that use TN panels. Afaik, the Yuraku should use one of 3 panels, each being p-mva, iirc the only differences were either contrast ratio or g2g times. I'm unsure about 1:1 mapping. On mine, if I set it to a 4:3 screen (1024x768 for example) it stretches to fill the screen. Mind, that's in Windows, so it's probably just doing what it's being told to by the drivers (for some reason, the option's greyed out for scaling on mine).
Well it arrived! Much better image than my laptop and old monitor although it seems quite bright. Xbox 360 picture seems decent quality at 1020p but I cant get sound as the HDMI and component cable won't fit at the same time. Also the VGA cable I'm now using with my old monitor is a bit short. Who wants more info?
PVA? I think I may have convinced my parents that this would be good to get for a joint birthday present
