Funilly enough I was reading in the Times today a fascinating article about the Vatican's position regarding Evolution. Turns out: they totally support it. In fact, the Vatican has taken the position Evolution is real, and actually works alongside the story of creation, since the mid 50s. The way they officially see it, yes God created the world and all that live in it, but it doesn't mean things then didn't start to change.

Most fascinating about the article though was the Vatican's position on Intelligent Design. Apparently it completely discredits it. According to the Pope, Intelligent Design is fundamentally flawed and cannot be taken seriously. They see it more as a cultueral response to an inate fear of science than an actual theory of creation. The more I read, the more sane the Vatican appeared to be. They're hosting a conference soon to celebrate Darwin's 200th Birthday and explain how evolution fits in very neatly with the creation story. Apparently Intelligent Design will be discussed in brief, but no-one is really taking any notice of it. They're even putting a page on Darwin and how his theories are compatible with Christianity on the Vatican website.

Basically, the modern church movement is to explain how evolution works with the story of creation, how the two theories are two sides of the same coin. Any so called Christian who just states Darwin was plain wrong is simply incorrect in the eyes of the Church.

I'm actually quite impressed. Seems like the vatican is taking the sensible and rational approach - good for them.

 

Belly button energy eh? Well, when you put it like that it suddenly starts to make sense again. Obviously everyone is aware that hot chicks - asians in particular - are vast repositories of belly-button energy. In fact, it is an energy source that's just waiting to be tapped for commercial purposes. BBE*-researchers need funding fast!
