He can do what he wants (obviously) but I've ridden a few TTs and those bikes are quite dangerous to be riding around a lake on - they're designed for A road training really.

Could just be a case of someone with too much money buying the most awesome roadbike they can reasonably find, then using it inappropriately.

me "It's £500 + mate, what you going to use it for?"
customer "just to ride to the shops and back for a paper, i'll take it"
me ":duh: ah well a sale is a sale"

Got mine booked in for a service on Friday, general pedal area makes a squeak when I put pressure on with my right foot, it's overdue for a service but I don't want to cause extra damage so I won't be using it this week till it gets the all-clear.

Cookie: I spoke to the manager of the shop about my bike and I still think he got it wrong.

BTW The lake Mankz is talking about is the rowing lake at school. There is a tarmac track all the way around the 2km long rowing lake. Often triathalons are held there, so perhaps he wasn't using his bike inappropriately.

Doesn't look too straight, and doing it at 40mph would be entertaining. :)

Know what you mean though - hills and bumps and mud please kythxbye!

Anyone else get sunburn out riding this weekend?

A few years ago I was hardened to it, but now, after 8 hours a day at a computer for the last 2 years I'm all pale and burninated!

Awesome weekend though. I did a nice relaxing 24 mile ride round nidderdale with a packed lunch at half time. Really enjoyed it.

My arms got a little red yesterday, I only had a cotton tee shirt to wear which quickly got nasty, so rode topless and then thought "hmm, burny..." :D

I didn't get burn't, but I did get cow shite all over my bike\legs\arse\saddle on friday. There was quite a large herd and they'd laid mines everywhere. SPLAT! :waah:

Question for the bikers of bit-tech: whats the wear level like in general and after going down ridiculously steep hills?

Basically, my bike is usually a commuter ~20min work <-> home thing with random excesses when i get bored at weekends

this weekend was a bit unusual, as i cycled from crawley to (and around) ardingly reservoir.

since a fair amount of the roads turned out to have scary inclines, i'm not sure if i've simply done a huge amount of wear to the brakes in a short period or damaged them... (some were 30+degree slopes or more, fun to go down but worrying when the hydraulic disc brakes got nearly too hot to touch at the bottom!)

Today the brakes were noticibly under performing, but i put that down to the wet weather, on the way home they were still quite bad (in bright sun)... time to replace brakes? do they wear out that quick? (no problem if they do, i just have no concept of what is normal or not! :D)

If you were braking heavily quite often, then yes, it could be that you've worn the pads out. Not sure if they're made from what normal pads are made out of, but I suppose if they get too hot, they could get softer, and as such, lead to faster wear. Maybe...
