    D80 and 55mm Micro AI-S.

    Iso 200

First shot wide open, second at around f8.

I know they are both pretty similar, but which one do you guys prefer? I prefer the second shot as it's got smoother dof and nicer bokeh, but the composition in the first shot makes more sense.

I actually find the composition in the second shot more intriguing Greg - nice work. :)

Here's a photo I took looking north from the bottom of Walla Crag towards Skiddaw on my recent trip to Lakeland... notice the small rainstorm on the top left hand block of the photo, which follows the ray of sunlight that has come through the clouds.

spent my evening helping out at a kids camp at my church and I decided to bring my camera. All I can say is that I really need to hurry up and save up for a faster lens. I lost so many shots because my Nikkor 18-200mm f3.5-5.6 could not handle the low light conditions.

anyways, here are three half decent shots

Go for the 50 1.8D first. 85mm in real world terms, fast and cheap. If you can go for the 35mm 1.8D first, then I'd go for that over the 50mm. Depends on what you like shooting more. Those pics you posted look like they were on a stage, so the reach of the 50 over the 35mm seemed to make more sense.

    @ Fabler
Thanks ! I probably took 30- 40 pictures before she would be still enough. It is a bit blurrier than I would like but, it's the best so far. :p

well I had a huge long thread a few months back trying to decide between that prime lens and a 17-50mm f2.8. I decided on the latter but i havent gotten around to saving enough for it yet:wallbash:

Pretty heavy crop, but I like it. D700 and Nikkor 55mm f2.8 Micro AI-S.

    Thats a great photo!

What settings did you use for it?

I noticed its the same lense as I have though i'm struggling to get a decent focus on any range.

Not happy at all with how it came out, but never mind... Didn't seem to compress very well in PS either.
