    Hi,

I'm a uni student so i'm eligible to get the Ultimate Steal (http://www.microsoft.com/uk/education/studentoffer/default.aspx) which means Office 2007 Ultimate for £38.95.

However, Office 2010 is going to be RTM'd soon and since i've been running Office 2010 since the CTP/pre-beta, I just can't see myself using Office 2007 again.

    Now, I've just seen this in my RSS feed;
    http://blogs.technet.com/office2010/archive/2010/03/04/get-office-today-or-tomorrow.aspx

Do you think if I get the Office 2007 Ultimate Steal, would I also get the equivalent Office 2010 package too?? I know there's a Office 2010 Professional Academic version coming out, but I fully expect it to be more expensive and less well featured than the Ultimate Steal (and yes, I do use things like Project 2010)...

So what do you guys think? Hold out for ProAcademic2010 or get the Ultimate Steal and risk not getting 2010?? Cheers.

have you tried the office 2010 beta? maybe give that a go and see if theres anything you would miss in 2007 (outlook conversations is a must-have feature btw).

then again, you could just get the beta and use that till the 2010 version of the ultimate steal comes round, then get that.

    Agreed.

Here is Office 2010 Beta Professional Plus: http://www.microsoft.com/office/2010/en/download-office-professional-plus/default.aspx
(you have everything.. it's the Ultimate edition of Office 2007)

It's also available in 64-bit flavor (32 and 64-bit will be on the same disk when it comes out), you will be able to choose which version you want, at the download page. SO far, it's been very stable. Never crashed, and I don't see any expiry notice. Just a note, you must activate Office 2010 Beta MANUALLY.

There is also Office 2010 Project, and Visio hidden somewhere at Microsoft TechNet website, do a google search if you want it.

Did either of you read the OP?

I'd wait. Just wish I was a student.

I think that Microsoft are doing an upgrade dealy, that allows you to get Office 2010 for free if you've brought Office 2007 between certain dates.

For more information about the Office 2010 Technology Guarantee, and to sign up for an e-mail reminder when Office 2010 is available, visit www.office.com/techg.

Drop them a line to ask them if the Student offer qualifies you for a 2010 download.

    It would appear not. :(

Excellent, thanks for pointing that out barndoor101. Definitely wasn't there when I opened the topic! I'm certain the price will go up from £38.95 when 2010 comes out (and besides I have 3 PCs so even if it is more expensive it will hopefully mean I can buy another license then).

    Cheers for your help guys!

Bear in mind that the T&Cs probably will be the same as they were in 2007 - i.e. one licence per email address (.ac.uk or .edu if I remember correctly).
