So, I'm just sitting in the couch, doing the web-thing. Meanwhile my dog, who is curled up in my lap, decides to fart and thereby fouling up my intake of air...

    FU dog!!!!:nono:

Did you immediately punish your dog?

By punish, i mean immediately scowl/tell the dog off, such as a neasty "NO!" or "BAD DOG!" etc, and send him outside for at least 5 minutes, again nastily, with an angry "OUT!"

If you want to train the dog that a certain behavior is unacceptable, such as farting indoors, then this must be done immediately.

Similar with training to do tricks, you must reward them immediately when they get it right. Reward with cuddles, nice voice, and treats.

I don't think you could honestly train a dog to stand up from it's owners loving lap, leave the from, pass some gas and return. That seems almost cruel.

I don't think it even understand the whole fart-ordeal. Might as just forget about the punishing as the poor doggy will just get confused.

    Also: Owned.

You can train animals to do heaps of stuff, some animals are more intelligent than some humans :hehe:

I once looked after a couple of great danes, that would only piss & poo in one corner of the backyard.
I had them for about a week or so, took them out nearly every day, to parks, fields, and never once, did I ever see them piss or poo anywhere, expect for that one corner of the backyard. Now that seems like overdoing the training to me, I felt sorry for the guys, they couldn't even enjoy pissing on a tree :sigh:

Cats are pretty good. Just about every cat i've seen, will go dig a little hole in the garden, do their business, and then bury it. I like that :thumb: A clean ***** is hard to beat.

A mate had a staff and it would sit under the chair you was sitting on and let one go:lol:

That dog could clear a room in seconds :jawdrop:

My cat would do this, we'd have to leave the room well ventilated for a couple of hours before the smell was bearable. I think it was his way of protesting at the high fibre low fat diet we had him on because of his weight :D

My dog does the "jump up on the couch, let one rip, then jump off" trick. Usually it hits my wife first so I'm prepared!

I have two cats. This never occurs.

    Therefore: Cats > Dogs

My sisters cat would stick its buttocks right on your face. When they are hairy... well, dingleberrys.

    So no, Cats = Dogs.

Our dog does something similar, but she actually farts while jumping up (we call it the jet propelled jump) - and then realises she's just jumped into the fart zone so jumps back down again.
