Humm. Have you tried logging into your paypal and looking for the actual dispute? It should be in there somewhere. I imagine the support guys can't do much in terms of resolving disputes. Would be nice to know what kind of dispute it is to begin with.
I don't believe that paypal won't do anything. There was obviously a problem with the transfer that was their fault, hence why it got recalled. Unless you didn't have the money to fund the transfer and hence paypal haven't paid steam. It almost sounds to me like you don't want to get it fixed, because then you won't be able to moan about it. I just don't believe that one of the largest digital distribution companies and the largest online pay site simply won't do anything.
If you're serious about getting your games back I suggest ringing them up again and making them do something about it. There is never "nothing they can do" unless you're willing to accept that as an answer. Yell at the top of your lungs for all anyone cares, just get them to fix it. Read the notice you got from Steam about closing the dispute and tell them to f***ing do that! Key word: tell, not ask. Once you learn that phone support is really just a wall you have to break through rather than a tool your life will be much better.
I've had loads of dealings with paypal and they allways been very helpfull and resolved any problems I've had.
this is why i still purchase games the old fashioned way, nothing like a hard copy to rest a mug on, oh sh*t... well that's another game ruined!
Really? I met this dude on a forum who only wrote in passable English once, maybe he works there. In other news, I spoke to them last week, called up, they answered their phone straight away, I talked to a very helpful guy, who spoke perfect English, and even offered to check my problem was resolved before he finished for the day (at 7pm), which he did, in turn resolving my issue (getting my account verified). Also you keep saying 'all morning' like you expect things to happen straight away. I understand your frustration but you may have to jump through a few loops to get this sorted out.
so you made a un on pcgamer to whinge about steam aswell http://www.pcgamer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1533 http://www.pcgamer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1530 i especially like this part
So a dispute was filed from the Paypal account, but you have no details for this? This is an issue with paypal not steam!! and before you say im a steam fanboy im not, i buy games from wherever is cheapest. Steam HAS to have strict rules/policies because of the type of service it is, you'd be bitching if they didnt! it may seem harsh but steam have told you what to do, and because paypal wont do it you still seem to think its still steams fault! If you're going to start a rant at least rant about the correct party!
Are you sure you are telling us the whole story here? I've had a problem with paypal and steam before, I had 3 cent to little on my bank account. They blocked the game (Arx Fatalis), only this game, until I had paid my dues and a penalty of $5. Also I was flagged unworthy of credit for a few weeks so I could only pay for games with money that I sent to my paypal account beforehand. No real problems with neither paypal nor steam at all.
I'm sorry but I'm with the OP on this one, it's frigging outrageous of Valve to close his whole Steam account just because a recent payment went wrong! No doubt there is some small-print in the Steam T&Cs (WTF has read them!) to make this legal but that doesn't make it morally ok!
So glad you posted this, I spotted those yesterday, and when I saw this thread on here I thought 'here we go again.'
IF *IFFFF* the OP is telling the truth. Do you always just take everything random strangers say as gospel?
OP was psoting this as a warning heres copy of paypals info on this. As you can see from paypal it say enquiry by paypal into payment and then they sent 4 emails to steam and steam didnt reply once. Or contact me. seeing as i didnt instigate this and paypal didnt contact me. I was totally unaware of the problem. If that makes me a whiny bitch then so be it. If you also think the sunshines out steam/valves butt cheeks thats you own opinion. Yes I posted this in pcgamer supprisingly living in uk I subscribe to both publications. So yes you can belive this is all made up. But simple fact is without warning or any contact my steam account disapered from existance. So maybee think twice how safe is yours. I do find it amusing how the OP cries that he can't find someone at PayPal who can speak English properly when his own English is at the level of a Nigerian scammer.
I think that means... "OWNED". On a serious note, as I said before, things only happen in the world if you let them happen. At this point I'd be getting my ass back on the phone with Steam to get my account back over such a misunderstanding. Unless you just want to sit there and watch while not doing anything about it. Note that Valve's message says they can't do anything until the dispute is closed. Well, the dispute's closed, get to it. It never explicitly says your account is permanently destroyed forever because of a reversed dispute, only that it will remain locked. Send me $100 to help rescue my princess and I will return the favor with $1,000,000!
yes it will remain locked and and have tried to send them payment again offered to pay with visa. i would love to get on phone to steam but strange they dont have a number listed. And if you think this just happens once. Just google it. Or maybee they are all as someone put it nigerain scamsters. Had one reply from steam only one. And as for steams great customer service Paypal emailed them 4 times regarding the transaction and no replies from steam. First time on 7th of August over a week and a half ago. Did steam contact me to alert me of the issue or reply to paypal no. Same as my support questions or emails. No replies from steam. http://www.wtfcountry.com/viewtopic.php?t=1825 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2hGvUrNDU4I http://archive.simjunkies.org/race0...chnical-support/my-steam-account-is-disabled/ http://www.inx-gaming.com/forum/threads/11776-steam-account-disabled?p=94522 http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthread.php?t=1173626 http://www.aprilon.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1059 http://uk.gamespot.com/pages/forums/show_msgs.php?topic_id=26690718 http://www.game-hunters.org/index.php?topic=40.0 http://forums.totalwar.com/showthread.php?201-Steam-disabled-my-account&p=1058&viewfull=1
pandoraocicat, get in touch with Paypal, tell them to re-apply the payment immediately or you will bill them for the full price of all the lost games. Trust me, they will sort it out.
