    You're 50? Really? :p

Think you got your wording a little wrong there ;)

Another great running song that I know is on all my Nike+ playlists is Tom Cochrane - "Life is a Highway" :thumb:

What a classic album. Definitely the best thing to listen to for energetic exercise.

Prodigy, yes. Pendulum? Definately. Not Dub-Step though, that's not allowed to be played within earshot of me :hehe:

Note that this is all good gaming music as well - the sort of thing I usually stick on over CS:S when I'm having a hardcore deathmatch session :D

Don't listen to music when I run, the MP3 player rattling about in my pocket is too much of a pain in the ass. However, erging is a different story. It's all about classic 80s power ballads my friend!

Doesn't need to be within earshot, just feel the rumble from the bass :p

Easy easy answer to this question.

Above and Beyonds 'Trance around the World' podcast. 2 hours, no breaks, every week, for free via Itunes.

You'll double your pace as well.

    Awesome.

You and I have got the only good answer on this thread :D

Trance is the way to go. Astral Projection is much more intense though and there are no vocals (they can get annoying sometimes). The songs are slow to start though.

I'm sure you never heard of it Bindi, but give it a shot, it's worth it (unless you hate electronic music, of course). PM me if you want the songs, they might be hard to find.

atm i've got a load of viking metal on my mp3 player for when im running. Gets me seriously pumped. Though I reckon pretty much any metal would do, so long as it sounds angry :D

A somewhat serious post to counter my previous one, have you considered perhaps going without music entirely to add an extra challenge?

I've considered grabbing an mp3 player for hiking, but eventually decided against it because of the mental conditioning that comes with silent exercise. With music I find myself losing focus on what I'm doing and why I'm doing it. Exercise isn't just a chore which you have to endure, it's an choice which you should embrace. Focus on how to improve your stride, feel the difference between different arm movements and step lengths, think of how your feet land and where pressure is applied, and most of all enjoy the feel of your body in action. The more you try to enjoy running, the more you will.

Or if you're a MGS fan just ask yourself "What would Big Boss do?" and immediately realize that you're just a whiny little bitch who needs to get his **** together and complete the mission! That train of thought actually carried me an extra five miles when backpacking over the summer and the campsite I planned on staying at was full and had to keep going until the next one.

Well... when I do go running (not as often as I should) I go with Cosmic Gate or some old Tiesto...

IMHO nothing beats good fast paced trance to get you going faster... I do, sometimes, go for old school metal just to change things up a bit...

    King Diamond

And Maiden are my favorites in that area.
