And it worked! The 8800GT was given to me because it would artefact on post and wouldn't boot into the OS. My oven only goes up to 250C so I left it in there for 10 minutes. When I pulled it out it smelt pretty putrid (a sticker melted) but once it cooled down I stuck the cooler back on, chucked it in my test rig and ta-da! No artefacts! Booted into the OS And it runs the little RTHDRIBL test no problems just chucking some heavier stuff at it now but it's looking good anyone else had a go at baking? Good results?
Sounds awesome chum, nice job but i believe baking the card is only a temporary solution? and it will go eventually, sadly
This is true. Having a 120mm fan blowing over the length of the card will help cool the board itself and possibly extend the length of this fix.
Yeah, it's temporary but I'm probably just going to chuck it in a folding machine until it dies looking good anyway, had no problems with everything i've tried so far
Tried it on my old 7600GT which didnt display anything. Baked it up to a nice crunch (read: F$%$ed it up). Put it back..Nothing... Turned out, it was a bad PCI slot. So what should have ideally been a new mobo ended as a new mobo+GC... Which is always good
I just don't tell mine how much I spend on PC parts ;D (when I used to be able to afford it obviously )
I'm always honest with her I'm always torn though, as her addiction is latex clothing... Such decisions are too much for a man...
well thats good, haha latex clothing, nice (Y) oh and tbh, everyone lies/keeps secret's about something, its just human nauture
I baked mine about 2 months ago and works alright however some games it causes artefacts but will do me over until I get enough brass for an upgrade.
