I own and have owned/used enough of PC equipment as well, but I don't find them worthy of my signature.

1. Microsoft being forced to include a choice of browser in their own software while Apple is not.

2. All the actions of Microsoft being judged as an act of a monopoly despite the reality being different, reason see my previous post.

3. Apple being allowed to conduct in clear anti competitive practices without being punished for it.

and so on

The problems are many, big and in the end hurt the consumer.

As of this post, Apple Inc. is valued at $362 billion, and Microsoft at $212 billion on the NYSE. So yeah, they're definitely not the underdogs any more, contrary to popular belief. They're actually worth $150 billion more.

The table with Apple vs. Microsoft antitrust is solid proof of something I've been saying for years. The problem is, it's almost 'cool' to hate Microsoft (less so now than a few years ago, but the point still stands) and because of that people get far more outraged at the smallest things than they should. Microsoft is a wonderful company known for hosting big events/conferences, sponsoring many educational institutions worldwide and having some of the best R&D in the industry. People just can't seem to look past the petty-minded circle of hate that seems to have emerged .

 

I've had this discussion before with out every really resolving it. My assumption is Apple make complete products, i.e. hardware and software in one package. It is the only reason I can think of that would make them different to MS.

 

It seems like Apple have taken much of the hate the last year, though. I guess people just love to hate the ones that do well.

Anyway, having the Apple vs. MS argument is starting to get a bit pointless. I think more and more people see that. In my opinion Apple and MS doesn't really aim at the same markets. Apple is for people that want high quality home computers that just do a job without too much fuss. MS on the other hand makes products for the cheaper parts of the home computer market and for business markets. Of course there are some deviations in both directions (Apple do make servers as well, and most high end PCs run Win7.)

 

You have missed the point. This isn't an Apple vs MS argument its a how come one gets hit with antirust (Windows bundled with IE) and the other does not for apparently doing the same thing?

 

Less debates MOAR DEMOTES! I need a laugh people. Help me out.

 

I'm just saying that making a direct comparison between the two is a bit "wrong". The rules are often different for products aimed at business use and private use.
