    3DMark 11 990x vs 3960X

It's not a fair comparison, but I would imagine about a 2.5k gap between the two @ 5Ghz.

is cpuz on 990x saying 1.008v?

Yep, that's cause there is no load, and the voltages drop a bit. 990x did 4ghz at stock vcore 1.2v.:)

What exactly do you intend to do with that cpu at 5Ghz?

Why doesn't anyone bench cpus like this with GTA 4 since that just eats up cpu power

Yes, with a game that utilises all cores.

3d rendering is also good of course. Shame I don't do any myself any more.

What's the point, when it can max it out at 6030x1080 and run at 60fps 90% of the time?

I don't play games without vsync (Can't stand running 120FPS in some games with horizontal fresh lines. So vsync is a most), so 60FPS is the limit. :)

Why can't u v-sync some games and 120 others? You can v-sync 120 for games like BF3 yes?

Vsync will only lock to the monitor refresh rate. So 15, 30, 60Fps. He isn't rolling 120hz IPS screens, so 120FPS isn't an option (Oh how I wish you could get those, though.)
