Anyone else up at 6AM trying to buy a Raspberry Pi? There are two sites selling them and I've been hitting F5 for 50mins and have seen the RS Components site once, Premier Farnell have apparently already sold-out of boards! Did anyone actually manage to bag one? (I'm very tired right now)
A load of the guys on my degree want these. I'm just hoping my uni grabs some as they'd be amazing for my degree (I do robotics)
Actual Link for Farnell Farnell are reported to *maybe* sold out, but are offering pre-orders RS haven't sorted their site out properly as searching for Raspberry Pi only goes to 'register interest' not sale. I've been up since half five this morning mashing CMD+R on many devices. [Edit] Update: RS Sales team state that it won't go on sale until the end of the week. Sauce
How can you possibly know this little about RP? Have you had your head buried in the sand for the past year, or do you just not read tech news? I've been up since five trying to buy one, but had no luck so far. I'm going to keep trying.
alarm at 6am, visited raspberry.org, saw both UK largest electronic component sites are down due to traffic, went back to sleep. since it's now on largest component site, i have no more worries of obtaining it. will buy it when there's actual stock, or with accessory kit, or version 2 with screw holes.
I tried this morning at 6am (using my phone because I didn't want to leave my warm bed ). Both sites were completely hammered, but I did manage to register interest on RS after 15 mins or so. I know they didn't want to take risks being a charity and all, but they definitely should have taken pre-orders and placed a batch order for 100,000 units. I'm pretty sure that many would have sold out on day 1.
Yeah, I'll get one from the next batch, would have been nice to get one of the first boards though. RS are holding off until the end of the week apparently to ensure it's one per customer. Overall they have to be pretty happy with the launch, interest in the RPi mashed 2 on-line retailers and as they're now being built to order, it's probably all China will be making for a few months. sauce Predictably they're already up on flea-bay :-\
Tried from 6am for half an hour then had to leave to go to work. Sadly didn't get one, but I'll definately get one as soon as I can.
Have been trying to get one of these most of the morning without luck. According to the Raspberry Pi twitter feed there are scammers selling on ebay.
The ebay fraudsters make my blood boil. That picture isn't even the final retail board or the beta - it's the alpha board (you can tell as it's bigger and it has the 2.1mm power jack, as opposed to MicroUSB).
Even if ebay sellers were legit we should avoid them as they are just profiteers, this is a charity company and am sure there will be plenty for everyone to have 2 if they like at some point this year Am now tired as was up at 5:45 hitting F5
