Not demotivating in the least. That picture says to me that even if you are a hardcore sci-fi geek, there is still someone out there for you.

Rough guess, it's real and he's some sort of ballet dancer.

Ballet dancers and gymnasts do that all the time.
Plus there is no telling how tall he is. Short people can do that a lot easier than tall people.
But this looks more like capoeira to me.

 

Ice skaters do this sort of jump all the time. They can often put more spin behind it, of course.

 

Conclusion: People that think this is fake are more likely to not be familiar with the different forms of dancing.

Which begs the question; Can you dance?
