QoS was awful so I hope they have changed the writer and director this time around.

I'm kinda curious. QoS wasn't to my tastes, so I'm hoping for less of that tone this time around.

It's being directed by Sam Mendes, so hopefully it'll be better.

The only way I can enjoy these films is if I ignore the fact they are 'Bond' films. The originals had such a big impact on my childhood and the 'reboot' has been treating the IP has made me wince.

As individual films on the other hand, they are perfectly good mediocre actions films.

Did any of that make sense? Been revising neuroscience for the last few days and my brain hurts atm

Actually, if you read the books, the Daniel Craig Casino Royale is pretty close to the book (including the testicular torture scene and Bond's closing line about Vesper Lynd). Quantum of Solace was a Bond short story by Fleming, although it had little to do with the story in the film.

Craig's first outing was awesome - best bond film since GoldenEye. QoS was very meh. I'm hoping they're back on form with this but who knows from the trailer.

So much hate for QoS! It wasn't the worst Bond film by far - still entertaining. This looks good! I'm fed up with being fed the ENTIRE STORY in trailers these days.

I thought QoS was very underwhelming and CR was excellent.

I really like the new Bond. Daniel Craig tends to suit roles that hint at murder bubbling beneath a restrained exterior (Layer Cake, anyone?). There's more story to these movies than the older Bonds, which were more like standalone episodes in a very slow-running miniseries.

So yeah, definitely looking forward to watching this.

QoS was rushed and IIRC the writer/writers bailed and so Daniel Craig and the director had to finish the script. It wasn't a bad film considering. This one is supposed to be a lot more polished and hasn't encountered the same kind of problems so I'm hoping it will improve upon the previous one.
There have been claims that it's going to get back to Bond's 'roots' and move away from the Bourne-style stuff however the trailer doesn't really convey that.
Should be interestng anyway, I'm always up for another Bond film. :thumb:

I really don't understand the QoS hate. Ok it wasn't amazing and certainly not a patch on CR but hey, it was a damn sight better than any Brosnan Bond film that's for sure!

    Really looking forward to Skyfall.

I don't hate QoS, I just felt that it lacked something.

It felt very much like it was slapped together and trying to ride the coat tails of CR, which I enjoyed despite not being the biggest Daniel Craig fan ever, and as such didn't seem to have as much atmosphere.

Perhaps I was expecting too much on the basis of CR, but hey. It just didn't float my boat.

It was so badly shot and directed it was just a confusing mess. I still have no idea what the opening car sequence is about or wtf happened. It's just a series of short quick cuts of cars on a mountain. Compare that to the set pieces in Casino Royale.

Brosnan hinted at greatness... Goldeneye is a damn sight better than QoS, purely for having an actual plot that more or less makes sense (in broad strokes). The start of Die Another Day was amazing, if they'd continued the rest of the film in the same vein we wouldn't have needed the Craig reboot. Well...sort of.

This looks good though, hopefully they'll realise it's ok to have a well known director, mostly because that tends to mean they'll be good at their job.

casino Royale was an amazing fresh start and setup for what could have been an epic multipart story, QoS pissed all over that potential.

I'm still wary, let's hope it doesn't follow the usual sequence of Bond revitalisation.

    - New Bond
    - Back to 'roots' and 'basics'
    - First movie is epic
    - second dodgy
    - and then a slow deterioration as the gadgets become more and more ridiculous (cloaked car anyone? )
    - start over again.

I thought the opening scene was great in QoS.

Although who ever decided to put the shot of the Alfa driving off of the cliff with that awful panning that loses sight of the car as it hits the ground needs to be shot.

But yes, I very much enjoyed that chase, then they pull up "We've arrived" DUH DUH DUH DUH DUH DUH DUH DUHHHHHH.
