I tried to take tinlong up on thier taobao proxy offer as there was some Cherry board I wanted and they never got back to me either. Not sure if they just haven't been back on or what.

Anyway, the Noppoo is finally coming to school with me tomorrow as I do my enterprise week presentation. So that should be good! So, are there any dust covers available for the Choc Mini? I could do with one!

 

Nah no covers, you need to upgrade before you get that kind of kit for your board

Well that's quite irritating because the single key that irks me is the space bar so far! Any other sources I can try? I'm googling, but I am a nooby at this don't forget. If they're not readily available I'll either have to get the sander out or see if QPAD can supply a blank set.

 

Yeah. The only board that use that size space bar are other iOne board like Black Widow, Xarmor, etc or Cherry G80-11800/11900. Be aware that Cherry keycaps are not as tall. Other than that I am unaware of any aftermarket source for that size.

 

Is it just the colour/design of the spacebar that irks you? There was a thread on GH about dying your own keys - not that useful as it's still down atm.

 

I believe it is the "fantastic" logo qpad seems to utterly love planting everywhere they can.

I wonder how easy it is to mod the actual key then - remove the decal or recolour or both...

Typing on my new Filco TKL Ninja (with browns) UK right now - happy to say I'm very satisfied - here's a few pics:



I like the plain top of each key and the no-nonsense design. My old keyboard was a Saitek Cyborg so having no LEDs (apart from caps/scroll lock) and even a subtle logo is refreshing. I went to type on a numpad out of habit once aready though - I'll have to get used to that, but the extra space on my desk is worth it. Absolutely love the tactile action, still adjusting my fingers to not bottom out each key, and it's actually fairly quiet when I manage this, although the clackyness is quite satisfying too.



Comes with a fairly sturdy dust cover, as well as a key puller, PS2 adapter and alternate windows keys (which I have changed already).



And here it is with the new rest - fits perfectly. Glad I saved a few quid here especially as the keyboard is so expensive.

Would Cherry Lasered POM caps give an identical feel to Cherry DS except that the legends will wear off?

Indeed so - if I had a precision milling machine I could just strip the stupid logo off it and leave it be.

 

Been drooling over the stupidly expensive anniversary edition of hhkb with laquer(sp?) keycaps and wondered.
Anyone ever come across wooden caps? Dark/cherry woods would look nice imho

Sure beast or another informed person could identify some suitable woods for it.
