OK, I'm in a pickle... with one week to go, and having only had 5 months notice, I'm stuck for an idea for a fancy dress party.

The theme is 'Royalty', in keeping with Jubilee year. If I don't think of something achievable in the few days, I'm going to have to go along with my wife's lame-ass but achievable idea - the King of Hearts, alongside her Queen of Hearts.

I would love a witty-but-tenuous idea, but inspiration escapes me. Any ideas?

Bear in mind that I am a white, shaven-headed male, 6'2", weighing 220lb - so ideas like going as The-Artist-Formerly-Known-As-Symbol might be a bit hard to pull off; though I would have crack if anyone can lend me a XL purple suit...

Thought about Duke Nukem, but no-one at the party will even know who he is, and although it would be fun, I don't think the violence and misogyny will go down too well. Marquis de Sade? No not that type of party, either.

Over to you guys... cover me in glory...!

Oooh... that IS a good idea... Ginger wig and Nazi uniform - fantastic.

Of all the suggestions so far, this is the best!

@Nexxo - can I borrow your sequinned suit?

I see where you are going with this.... but he's not quite royalty yet. Perhaps I could wear a rugby shirt, relocate my nose a bit closer to one ear, and start chatting up some bird in a bar while my Mrs isn't looking. Question is, will people realise I'm in fancy dress...?

Lol - If only I could find a suitable outfit... I think I could carry this off; I've already got arrogant and stupid nailed down.

Not exactly royalty but my uncle came to a medieval party we had once with a dog chew toy steak on a chain around his neck. He said he was Sir Loin.

Nah, they're used to that from me....

    All good ideas, thanks.

Striking, but probably lost on them.

My daughter did suggest that I go as the 'Emperor who wears no clothes'. Naturally, I was game, but word got out and I have been told in no uncertain terms that clothes are not optional...
