Just thought I'd share this random story from my life. A little while ago I ordered myself a new pair of shoes online. I took them out of the box when they arrived, and there was a bit of a weird smell; "No big deal," I thought, "new shoes often have an odd smell." I took them in the kitchen to polish them and left them on the table. My other half also started to notice the odd smell coming from my shoes, and it wasn't until a day or two later when we actually figured out what the smell was: cannabis. That is a bit of a bizarre smell to come from a pair of shoes, but several of my friends have taken a whiff and they all agree that it's cannabis. Plus I'm not exactly holier-than-thou, so I do know what the stuff smells like! It's now two months down the line and if anything, they smell even stronger than they did before; especially when I've been wearing them all day and I've just taken them off. We live on the first floor and my other half remarked the other day that she could smell my ganja shoes in the stairwelll - before she even reached our door. I can even smell the buggers now and then when I'm in work; I've no idea what people of work must think of me now... I knew that hemp or hemp-based material is used quite often these days, including being used in shoes & trainers, but you'd think they would make an effort to remove the smell during the manufacturing process... I've tried several odour eater type things (including actual Odor Eaters), febreeze, deodorants, body sprays, etc. Nothing will shift the pungent aroma of sticky green stuff emanating from my shoes. And yes, I've already checked for hidden smuggling compartments! As I said; just thought I'd share this bit of randomness with you.

You know what? I think I'd actually prefer them to smell of rancid cheesy feet. I mean... the cannabis smell was amusing at first, but I must smell like a complete and utter stoner. Not really appropriate when I'm in long meetings with senior management at work!
