I wouldn't buy a Ducky, but I would choose one over the festival of plastic death that is Razer.

For the price premium, I think the standard caps are sh!te. Though you don't have a lot of choice if you're going for a backlit model.

I must admit, I haven't lived with one, I've just had a bit of a play and poke around one. I stand by my opinion though.

I agree that the non-shine ABS caps are standard OEM fare (same can be said of most though especially Filco), I think the coating on the Shine caps is very nice to touch, although it is of course subjective.

I suspect that in time you would wear through the coating and have the same problem as with any ABS caps, but they seem pretty resilient.

PBT is definitely for the win though, just a shame there are next to no PBT caps that allow meaningful light transfer. Come to think of it I haven't bought a keyboard with ABS caps for a long time!

That is something I'll have to consider.

I am rather partial to a backlit keyboard for those late night gaming sessions.
After using this BW with the Blues I am wondering if they are my type of switch, I think I could potentially get on better with Browns.

I think ducky shine caps are alright, I have a couple of sets.

They didn't seem all that different to the original CM caps for backlit boards.

Got a nice deal on some new surplus PCB with MX black for €15/ea. Now added to groupbuy.

NAIS! Ordered one of those. Perhaps I can use them to upgrade the Raptor to a Plate-mounted version.

While these GMK PCB are similar to 1800, they won't fit in an 1800 case. There are some differences.

Got more than usual to do today, so I'm back on a normal keyboard. And, I'm ashamed to say, it's a massive, massive relief. I'm really not sure the TypeMatrix is going to be for me, purported health benefits or no.

Not surprised considering it's horrible scissor switches

    /mechkeyboardmasterrace

I personally can't see myself getting on with that at all - for all the wierd and wonderful layout keyboards I own they're all following the same basic pattern however of staggered switch layouts...

On another topic, if I was to split my Filco (apart from mbm who hasn't got the reddies at the moment, the only interest I've had is for the caps and board separately) how much do we think the board and caps separately would be worth

I'm really loath to split it to be honest

What are the main differences Ivan? Will it work with some minor modding?

Loath. Loathe means you hate something: "I loathe scissor-switch keyboards." Loath means you are reluctant to do something: "I'm loath to switch to scissor-switch keyboards." Sorry, pet peeve.

Anyone want to buy a TypeMatrix? Pretty much brand-new!

You learn something new every day :) I'm still confused by practice and practise however...

Same rule-of-thumb as advice and advise: one is the thing itself, the other one is doing the thing. "I advised George; I gave George advice. He practised his grammar; with practice, his grammar will improve."

Eerr, yeah, keyboards, on-topic, woo! :worried:

I think if this thread was ever edited to only contain posts about keyboards it would lose about 15000 posts...

I love grammar pedantary posts. Thanks Gareth! :)

GK - if only that board wasn't browns... I do love the caps though! The price for the board alone depends on the price of the switches to an extent I guess - probably thirty quid at least for switches alone, so what about a neat fifty quid for the board? The caps though - I'm not sure (and I want them so I can't fairly offer a price I don't think).
