Case Mod - In Progress Frozen Throne - [COMPLETED]

Small update. Getting some holes cut for the power button and power light.

Laying down some primer on the printed bits.



Some metallic paint for the gate bars including some dry-brushing of rust.



Coming along. Slowly but surely.



And designing up a custom mount for the power light & switch.



And some fitting & tweeks later and we're done.

 

Tear down & painting has commenced...

 

I'm liking all of the sheet metal work and skill with Acrylic. The build is looking great too. nice one!

Can I ask what tool you are using to cut the sheet metal? (your result was super neat, I'm envious )

And also how you engraved the top of the acrylic?

The sheet metal work has been a combo of dremel for cutting and some tin snips.

The acrylic engraving has been done with an exacto knife with a ruler. I just had a print out of the image taped underneath. For the most part I tried to stick to straight lines.

I wish my camera skills were better to do it better justice. I'm really loving the blue/chrome combo.

Reassembly commenced today. Just one of those days where putting stuff together scuffed up the paint a bit. *sigh* So reapplied some paint in a couple of areas and need to wait for that to dry.

Crackle paint! Working on making the outside look dilapidated. Crackle paint is a combo of white school glue and fresh paint over top while it's still wet. Cracks as it dries.

Still more dry brushing & such to do, but here's a start.

 

Some further work on the paint this weekend. Some dry brushing on the front & sides. Really starting to come together.

 

Poking my head in here just to say I'm still watching and still enjoying! (It's easy to get discouraged with no comments).

Getting much closer to completion now. Some 'blown snow' to air brush on top and flags to create. That should be about it.

 

Starting to do some test airbrushing of the blown snow. Good thing I'm trying it out on some scrap first. Not a bad first attempt, but my skillz need some work.

Day 2 of practice:

 

Just continuing to work through the technique. Large sweeping motions from outside to in for the blowing snow. Paper template for the sharper edges in the middle.
