I have actively taken a huge dislike to all parties involved with this nonsense now. Ecclestone, eternally hated for being such a colossal douchebag. In this instance for pushing the licensing prices higher and higher. Sky for blindly accepting the higher prices. BBC for not standing their ground and being as spineless as ever. Ho-hum, looks like it's back to streaming the F1 for me.
Channel 4 races will not have adverts was confirmed. Goodbye Eddie Jordan and DC hopefully 2 horrible people. No point streaming boring races though
What was wrong with DC?! I always thought he was fairly decent as pundits go. Be careful what you wish for, because we could end up with some absolute cretins..
Yeah remember Channel 4's athletics coverage, we could end up with Ortis Deley. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=116_1315223901
But then you're paying Sky either £252 per season if you already have Sky, or £xxx (I don't know how much Now TV costs, but it ain't going to be cheap) for the PAYG TV. Why anyone pays that amount for (effectively) a single channel is beyond me.
(or words to that effect). Whilst you might think it's expensive, it's what it costs to view it legally.
Costs you nothing if you go to the pub. EDIT: There's also http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/wiki/How_to_legally_watch_F1_without_buying_Sky_Sports_F1
According to the Guardian the C4 deal is a 3 year deal and is for 10 live races a year, and highlights of the remaining 11. Whilst it's a shame for the BBC to lose it [though rumours were doing the rounds at the tail end of the season]... at least it's not Channel 5 [or itv tbh] worse still... UKTV... F1, on Dave *shudder*
