Get in there AMD!!! https://www.overclock3d.net/reviews/cpu_mainboard/amd_ryzen_7_1800x_cpu_review/1 I've not owned a hyperthreaded CPU since my 2600k (which was awsome fair play), my next CPU is definitely AMD Ryzen Intel go do one with your price gouging and marginal speed increases over the years!!!
Gamers Nexus has pretty much rubbished the 1800X as *essentially* pointless. In a minority that I've seen so far, though. Most say the 1800X is a winner, particularly on value. The 1700 will be interesting, as will the R5 and R3.
Exactly. Every single hardware enthusiast out there considering a new CPU should be buying Ryzen. Not because it is the best - but because at times like these its important to put your money where your mouth is and support AMD. Otherwise we'll be in for another cold intel dominated winter over the next decade.
TBH I don't pay a lot of attention to what that neanderthal feckless moron says any way. Where did he even come from? one minute he's not there, next minute he is manhandling hardware. I used to have hair like that. It was a complete nightmare. I was constantly zapping hardware. Any way as Anthony says, welcome back AMD. It's very nice to have you back kickin ass and taking numbers. Most of the rumours are confirmed too, it's a bit of a pants clocker but overall it's a complete beast. Velly noice.
I don't really buy in to their argument about resolution: It is a high end cpu, most likely going into a high end pc, so high end resolutions should be used...
Yeah nexus is in the minority, I just thought i'd flag it up in full bit-tech tradition. Waiting on Anandtech's full review. The 1700X and non X will be very interesting.
From what I am hearing the 1700 should do 4ghz. Meaning it would be pretty crazy to buy anything else. Well, any other Ryzen 8 core any way. Even if you lose 200mhz that's pretty much bugger all.
some of the gaming benchmarks look a bit disappointing but I think there are issues with smt, I saw some benchmarks with it disabled and it was on par with any other cpu. I don't think I will mind too much if I have to disable it, a cpu with 8 physical cores will be pretty damn good I think
Ashes is making AMD look bad in some of these tests. It's a great chip if you can use the threads, for what I care for ( games ) it's a at best sidegrade at worst a 40% downgrade. Which I think most expected for games. The 4 core 6 core chips should clock higher and offer better results. AMD are the ones pushing dx12 I did expect much better performance from those types of games.
To be fair, if the 4 core or 6 core parts match the i5 in gaming it will be a seriously competitive line up. Although I say this in hope rather than expectation. It is a step in the right direction for gamers; workstation wise, AMD have killed it.
I don't understand... I read about an early Ryzen CS:GO benchmark result earlier. Apparently everything was set to low and the res was 720p. It scored 289 fps. I decided to give it a go with the above settings and I used the custom "fps benchmark" map (seems to be the most widely talked about CS:GO benchmark). Even with AA set to max (16x Q..wossitsname) and 16x AF, I still scored 402fps.
Cannot compare fps figures using 2 different gpus lol, he used a 390x vs a 780. Granted the 390x stomps the 780 in most games.
I could understand if my GPU was more powerful than his, but it's not. Like I said, I don't get it. Edit: Here we go, a quick & dirty recording of my settings (same as the settings stated for the Ryzen run with possibly higher AA & AF, which are maxed) and a benchmark run. I dropped a few fps, possibly due to Shadowplay and net graph, but it's not far off. My i5 is faster than Ryzen at CS:GO, apparently.
Biggest benefit to gaming will be the lowest common denominator being raised from crippled locked Dual core to unlocked Quad core.
Unlocked dual core with HT for £180? No? Anyone? Bit-tech (Antony Leather) thinks its good. In seriousness, that is big plus. This whole release is going to shake up the market.
