Do the flight controls and navigation tutorials so you don't end up getting stuck in the station or jumping out of fuel, the tutorials have been improved by Frontier as well.

I'll have a look at doing those tonight then, should give me a good chance to properly setup the stick & throttle too.

A good recommendation (also 23_RO) is correct, the Python is the best medium ship in the game. An A Spec with Military Grade Armour will run you about 170 million cr but give you an excellent multi purpose ship, that is a Natural Step up from the ASP and Cobra before it. The nice thing about the Python (if your always using it), its so flexible, you get lots of material goodies from USS sites and the like (which you need for engineering) and if you get jumped you can easily defend yourself because it is one tough nut, with excellent hard points (2 med and 3 large), with a huge power plant and lots of well sized module slots. You can do all of that and comfortably do missions or go to a rez zone for combat without changing your load out. It's real weakness is its rate of turn, without engineering alot of ships will run around you in circles, preventing you from getting all of its DPS on a target.

Don't bother with the Imperial Clipper, it is the ship I want to love but because of it's large size and awkward compartment sizes and hilariously small fuel tank it's just not a good ship.

I only just upgraded to an Anaconda, specifically so I could do some 400 ton imperial slave trading in the wake of the terrible passenger mission nerfs, im getting 2 million a run, 1 jump, less than 100LS to the station.
However, I don't have much spare cash, so for now the Anaconda is relegated to trade duties :/

Don't be too quick to jump to a new ship, having one and fitting it well are different and to make the Anaconda better than a Python, I will need circa 600 million...

    Awesome response guys. :)

Looks like I'll be saving for the Python.
I've been using this site to look at the ships, and their internal components, and the cost of when it's fully kitted out. Which is a great help. :)

The videos on that site are nice enough but personally I prefer:

    For ship fitting mock ups.

My Corvette need's some work, I have not engineered it to where I want it to be or even got some modules on that I should but I thought I would take it for a spin to bring out the ATR in the Beta and WOW!

I love them, maybe now I can return to playing in Open once more.

Well that got expensive fast. Came back to elite after quite a big gap, did a bit of trading to get back into the controls. Last night went out to do some wanted hunting for the CG event. First trip out, couldn't understand why my vulture was showing two red rings on the shield display, went out and did a bit of killing at a res site, then on the way back stopped at a signal source, killed one sidewinder, then 4 or more other ships appear and very quickly I realised that I didn't have any shields, hence the two red rings, and boom I'm dead. 500k insurance rebuy, go out again, go to nav beacon, try to take on another vulture, was doing alright, got it down to 18%, then my shield cells didn't appear to be working, overheated, shields down, boom, blown up again.

Tweaked my loadout a bit, went back to a res site and got about 900k in bounties, so I'm almost back to where I was, :D

So I'm 120hrs in, and only made 33mil, plus the cost of the ASP Explorer fully kitted out (30mil) so it looks like I'm lucky to even make 500k Cr an HR at this rate. (Well, I made 5mil today in 4hrs) But the game is such a grind to get anywhere. Even ranking up with the Feds, I'm only 40% Chief petty officer. (Seems like one mission is worth 1% increase.)
It seems like this game needs your soul... But the strange thing is, I enjoy it. :D

I did something silly and lost two Pythons in a row (first time I wasn't paying attention to fuel and got stranded, the second time I went AFK in the middle of nowhere and came back to find I had been destroyed by AI pilots)... regardless of those mishaps, I'm having a ton of enjoyment flying about again.

Haven't been playing for overly long sessions as I have my stick & throttle too high up, sat on my desk. The stick in that position isn't too bad but the throttle being there wrecks my shoulder as I end up keeping my arm raised for too long.
I'm tempted to pick up some of those clamp style mounts from Monster Tech when I get paid in February as they seem pretty solid and would lower everything to the same height as the arm rests on my chair.

I made some custom mounts out of MDF, some large L brackets and added them to my chair, if you flick back a few pages. Cost me about £8 to make including some Matt black spray paint. :)

Hi all, I just undusted by HOTAS and fired up Elite Dangerous after a bit of hiatus. Are there any groups/wingmates I can join? Friend me up as CMDR The Megamale, or let me know if you are all part of a group I can join. I usually enjoy bounty hunting but happy to go with the flow.

Finally got my Python. I also found that selling all the upgrades on the ASP X, rather than just part exchanging it, actually gave me back more Cr's.
Then when I started to upgrade the Python, I was able to buy back some parts including my 5a FSD, which in the system I was in didn't stock anything higher than 3C. :)

The Python is a ship you'll grow into Simon - it's worth the growing pains of the Animal it later becomes ;)

That's when you start to think, hmmmmm which one of you b*tches is first...??

Look forward to it. I've added 15mil of upgrades to it so far. Including some turret missile seekers and a pair of large turret beam lasers, two shield boosters, Chaffs and ECM, so I should be quiet protected. Just need to get enough money to get some 6a shields, then I'm going to go bounty hunting in it. :)

I'll be happy to try some bounty hunting with you once I get my Python up to scratch.
Feel free to add me guys.

So has anyone taken advantage of voice commands with voice packs?

6:43 is very interesting, especially when your at the edge of your seat trying to escape, but get all flustered as you're on your last legs trying to multitask, but with one word, it sets systems to maximum shields, selects the nearest star system, and engages Hyper drive.

So this is the program you can use as a stand alone, where you will have to set everything up to key binding yourself, or HCS Voice packs can be bought.

    https://www.hcsvoicepacks.com/

You can buy various voice packs to suit your needs, but I quiet like Eden. :)

I've played around with Voice Attack a bit in the past but found it wasn't as quick as just pressing a button, also as I have a minor speech impediment it didn't always recognise what I was saying.
I love the idea behind using the voice commands, just never got it to work as effectively as I'd like.

Does anyone know if it's better to trade in goods or is transporting passengers better for income at the moment?

Well I may have to give the free demo ago first. :)

I seem to make about 1mil+ Cr's in 10mins with my Python fetching supplies, but with 20 missions open, I seem to get indicted about 4 times in a row before finally making it to the waypoint.
