No, you're either looking at Philips or Pozidriv. Triumph would definitely not be using an expired head geometry that was nation-specific to a nation on the other side of the planet, any more than they would suddenly decide to use Robertson head screws (even Robertson would be more likely, as it's an active standard).
Nope I know my pozi, from my Philips, from jis., they are jis screws. Triumph do buy parts and sub assemblies from Germany, Italy and Japan etc. I'd go and take a photo but it's dark and I'm settled in for the night, but with what's available in front of me; http://www.triumph675.net/forum/showthread.php?t=65071 http://www.triumphrat.net/archive/index.php/t-237209.html They are the bane of most motorcyclists, as they don't know what they are. I could post links all night long, but you've got google
Check that first link, it was Pozidriv after all. There are huge amount of "using the wrong driver" (or someone has the past has and knackered the head) or "using a really crappy driver" (or again, The Last Guy has) that are incorrectly attributed to "it must be the infamous JIS screw!".
Bloke got his drivers mixed up, doesn't mean he didn't have JIS screws We'll have to agree to disagree, I know my bike, a 2006 Triumph, has JIS screws on it in several locations, dimples and all.
Wera all day long. I tend to lose Wera bits before they come close to wearing out, these days. Get yourself a decent set of security bits too and you'll be able to take anything apart, even if the heads have got a bit ground up!
