NASA Finds Ancient Organic Material, Mysterious Methane on Mars And if you don;t get the title reference... shame on you...
I don't see what's so amazing about mysterious methane, that stuff emanates from me on a daily basis. On a more serious note is it really that surprising to anyone? It was almost a forgone conclusion for me that there was life on mars at some point in time.
The surprise is that ther may still be life on mars... it was assumed that a combo of radiation and perchlorates had scuppered any chance of them finding life still liffing it up on mars.
I don't even find that it still being there that surprising, life, in its lowest forms, is damn hard to extinguish once it gets started, haven't they tested some forms of life to serious extremes, IIRC they sent some tardigrades into space where they were frozen and exposed to solar radiation and they woke right back up when recovered.
Sorry, I missed that one completely. In my defence, I was distracted by noise from the railway station - the sounds of shunting trains, ringing and rumbling; softened almost into melody by the distance...
