Is that normal for a PPI claim? I was under the impression you can claim what you paid out on the PPI itself, or is there a crazy-high interest rate and you had a policy from the 70s?

I should probably check cards from my student days, when I was liable to just have ticked a box with little scrutiny... not that I have any of the paperwork.

 

You get interest at 8% p.a.c. so the numbers can get really quite big.

I never knowingly opted into PPI, but then I guess that's the point.

 

Seen as everyone is making such a fuss over it in a negative way - I'm going to say i'm enjoying a proper summer.

I got sweet tan lines on my arms and legs from being on the bike so much. I say keep it going till October like they keep threatening, my body is ready.

 

Damn straight. Yes sometimes it's a bit close at night, but I'll happily take it for this glorious summer. I haven't even busted out the AC unit.

I'm holidaying in Oman at the end of August, so if anything this is good prep.

 

It certainly is worth it, even if you get nothing you know where you stand. You won't get past next year's deadline wondering "what if".

I've been for work a few times and adored the place, so taking the fam this time around. I found the weather a great deal more bearable than UAE, Saudi, Kuwait... still hot though!

We plan to wander to the Mutrah Souq on one of the days, which should be the only activity where the heat may present challenges, so will try to plan for the least hot day of the trip. That's the theory anyway. The rest is either air conditioned (e.g. grand mosque, opera house) or more exposed (e.g. dolphin boat, lazing by the pool/beach). The hotel is in it's own hidden cove, not sure whether being that sheltered is better for the climate, or worse, but there will always be either water or AC nearby at least.
