    Little mini micro-cut shredder
, 'cos tearing important documents up by hand before putting 'em in the recycling is a pain. Was a bit unsure of its quality, given the sub-£35 pricing, but it works a treat. Going to use the resulting confetti to bulk out the cat litter, as mulch in the planters, might even get the kids making their own really crappy recycled paper from it.

    Ryobi One+ Compact Charger (2A)
. I don't use my power tools often, which is just as well 'cos the only charger I had is the 450mA overnight one that came in a bundle with the drill. This one's 2A, which improves matters dramatically without being as expensive as the proper 5A rapid charger.

Result! Money saved and a toy, errr tool that you get to keep.
There's a Ryobi battery lawn mower on Gumtree locally....would suit self employed tech writer/landscape destructor ;)

Did away with the tiny patch of never-really-grew-properly lawn we had a while back: it's just a paved yard with a surprisingly tall (non-fruiting, annoyingly) cherry tree and a lilac bush these days.

Shipping to you from Bournemouth may have been on the expensive side!
Maybe automate it with a Raspberry Pi or Nvidia Jetson Nano...
All the RPi bots seem to have been small, a friend bought a tipping garden cart a few months ago and I thought that would be excellent to motorise and automate. It could follow you round the garden or come over when called!

Given the claggy, stone and clay laden soil in our front garden, an automated self-digging spade would be useful. Any ideas?

Edit: I wonder if this would be a good starting point?

Bought a drone. Yeah, I know.

However, rather than throw myself headlong into the moneypit, I bought a uber-cheapo Mavic clone. Obviously, I'm under no illusions about the build quality and relative performance - I just thought 87 quid on a sacrificial drone to learn with is a sight better than accidentally launching a Mavic Air into the sea on it's first flight.

Another good way to dabble is with the Ryze Tello. Can usually find them in Harvey Norman and other places. Controlled from your phone, nice flight characteristics for the size, 7-8 minute flight time and great to practice on.

I looked at the Tello, but the lack of RTH and GPS hold put me off - I'd DEFINITELY lose that onmy first try.

Is that the same Mavic that (used to?) make bike wheels...? If so, never thought I'd see the day when "über-cheapo" & Mavic appeared in the same sentence...

The key word is "clone" :)
