Ah, bums, date format mixup: it's not due on the 10th of January, it's due on the 1st of October. Boo-urns.

This is why we use RFC 3339, people!

You know what really grinds my gears about date formatting? User interfaces that use both localised and US-style dates. SQL Server/SQL Server Management Studio does this with dates in scheduled jobs and SSIS packages. That one stupid design decision has been responsible for countless hours' worth of failed jobs, broken packages, and database developer/admin woe.

Give me YYYYMMDD or give me death!

Ackshually, that's not RFC 3339 compliant. ISO 8601 allows for shortform, but RFC 3339 requires the separator: YYYY-MM-DD.

Ackshewally, as a database person, YYYYMMDD is way more efficient. Using a separator makes it easier to read, but without the separator I can treat a date as an integer. Integers are WAY less computationally complex than date or string types. Compute is cheap, but complexity can really matter when your scheduled job has a query that has to scan indexes that span hundreds of millions of records, or where you have partitioned tables and you're trying to do partition elimination. Plus it's a trivial cast from YYYYMMDD integers to YYYY-MM-DD date types when you need to do actual date calculations.

I said nothing about RFC 3339, you did

To which you replied, I note. Anyway, RFC 3339 is the only true date-time spec, 'cos you have to pay for ISO 8601 and nuts to that.

    Autodesk Fusion 360.

What should be incredibly complex operations are made effortless, and what should be simple has be clicking about in vain for 30 minutes at a time :sigh:

Paid for Saturday delivery on an Overclockers order. Was still in bed when the courier got here and neither of us heard the door. Poooooooooo. I was looking forward to putting that keyboard together, and my router's HDD really is on its last legs.

At least I can go get it from a local shop tomorrow (or possibly later today), instead of having to wait until Monday to go to the depot.

    The Expanse. Problem solved :thumb:

Took me two effing years to get over a self inflicted dose of that. Top tip: don't go cross country running when you're twice the weight you were when you did it at school.

Spent months in plaster in my early teens because of Achilles problems.
On removal of the casts the doctor squeezed them, as i was peeled of the ceiling
he said " well that was a waste of time then"

I know exactly where you're coming from. I had to kneel on a chair facing a wall while being assessed for my Achillies snap. It's a good job I was facing the opposite way to the Dr when he squeezed mine.
