What I bought: a Pioneer DDJ-SB2 controller from CeX



What I actually got: a Pioneer DDJ-400 controller from CeX



Technically this is an "upgrade" as it's a more expensive model - CeX sell it for about £80 more than the SB2 - but it's not compatible with the Serato software I've been playing about with, it only works with Rekordbox... When I was doing some research on Friday, however, this model kept coming up as a recommendation in forums, reviews, reddit, etc. So I'm not sure whether I keep it or tell CeX that they f'ed up.

Footnote: I'm not looking for a career change, this is just for noodling about at home. I've been playing around with Serato Lite off and on for a little while but just using keyboard controls feels... wrong...

Well, that answers that question... I just had an email from CeX: "Yeah we screwed up and sent you the wrong thing. Can we have it back please."

I didn't expect to like my H&S as much as I did, wonderfully well made pieces of kit.

Fortunately, or unfortunately, the Bluetooth reaches down from the loft room to the living room.

The only part of that sentence I understand is the last three words.

 

After posting I did think I should have thrown a 'yet' in. I mean you can always find a need.

 

Wait... are you trying to say there's a difference between "need" and "want"? Do not understand

 

I've the same tool from another manufacturer, it probably only gets used once or twice a year but when bit does it's invaluable.

Similarly, there have been several times I've bought tools that I've not had a specific purpose for, only for them to save my bacon down the line.

 

My slightly more long term review of this mug: it's bloody brilliant.

Gotta make sure you properly scrub the mechanism in the lid, but it does fold back for easy access. It will probably stain over time (unless you're really **** hot and thoroughly scrub it immediately after using it), and there's a lot of nooks and crannies where gunk can build up and go funky if you're not careful.

But still. Bloody brilliant mug, and the way is seals liquid inside is practically witchcraft.

 

And are right fiddley buggers to reassemble if you attack it harshly with a brush.
I only got another one as the whole thing was only a couple of quid more than a replacement lid

Those are two people I wouldn't meet in a hotel anywhere, let alone Birmingham.
