    Change of plan :D

My Technician has now give me a new motherboard from a dell dimension 4400 which takes DDR SDRAM which is better, cheaper, easier to get.. & the motherboard also has a built in VGA unlike other!! :)

One thing.. the CD drive someone give me was smashed inside and doesn't open looking for a replacement now then should all be good!

Just need a cooler for my graphics card.

    Mark.

    Hiya - back again!

Just located the 9800 pro cooler - all good, though the push-pins are an ickle bit mangled (should still work OK)....
    - looks like it will fit your card from what I can make out!

I can pack it up with some thermal grease and send it off to you in the next couple of days.
    - Drop me a PM with your address mate.

    Cheers, Si

Check the BIOS and make sure you've set it to boot from CD before the HDD.

    Tried that still no.

It comes up boot from cd... i tap several keys and it doesnt do anything, then just goes onto the black screen were it says start windows normally and keeps reloading that every 30 secs.

and i cant do anything but turn comp off.

are you using a PS/2 or USB keyboard as older BIOS versions may not support USB keyboards until you get into windows.

TBH its been about 6 months since i had to do any PC repairs, you could try it with a PS/2 keyboard if you can borrow one from a friend.
