Hi all, I'm keen to get some opinions please. I play CSGO and am struggling to get decent FPS. It fluctuates between 50 and 90 approx. I have been advised that the engine is more dependent on CPU rather than GPU so am considering a CPU upgrade. Current setup (important bits): motherboard - GA-H55M-UD2H CPU - Pentium G6950 OC to 4.2GHz GPU - Sapphire Radeon HD 6850 RAM - 4GB I was thinking of upgrading to an i5 from the G6950. Do you think this will be worth it?? Thanks! Pete
Yes sure, if you can find a good price on used i5 750 or 760. Might as well look for 1156 i7 and xeon too, you never know. New price not worth it though. You could buy new current gen i5 for about the same price probably, but then you need a new motherboard. If you have that budget I would reccomend doing that instead really.
What's wrong with 50-90 fps??? Sounds perfectly acceptable to me. If it's the big jumps in the frame rate, wouldn't it be easier and cheaper to enable VSync and lock it to 60fps?
Thanks for the replies! Great I think I'll look at getting an i5 750 then. Saying it's perfectly acceptable is like saying to someone for example who mods cars "that interior is perfectly acceptable, why buy the flashy leather one?"......we're all suckers to something brighter and better. Besides, it's probably just a case of...."it can't be me being a noob at this game, it must be the FPS!!!!" Cheers guys!
run something like playclaw at the same time as you game, will let you see if the gpu or the cpu is maxed out while your in game
