Hi Planning my casebuild, and is looking at mounting a 7" screen (Touch would be lovely - 4,3" could maybe work ) ... Is going to be a secodary screen, showing a moving when playing, or something like that. Is the most easy to buy a cheap Tablet, and take apart ? - Going to use a Asus Z77 motherboard. Hope you see where im going - What to search on ebay for ? Regards Henrik
These are available http://www.shoppingsquare.com.au/p_8969_Nanovision_UM710_Mimo_USB_7_Monitor bit expensive but has usb interface and stand is removable.
Looks nice, but my 24" cost less Dont need stand or anything, will be making a custom housing ... http://www.ebay.com/itm/imo-Touch-7...1682?pt=Computer_Monitors&hash=item4166dc0da2 Maybe something like this ... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lilliput-UM...4635?pt=Computer_Monitors&hash=item19d1fc233b The Lilliput UM-70 monitor looks like something that will to the job ? - Also a decent price ...
And Touch :-D http://www.ebay.de/itm/Lilliput-UM-...5367?pt=Computer_Monitors&hash=item4604003da7 Dont look like any better choice out there - Gets great reviews about the colors also ...
You might as well forget about this option as there are not VGA/DVI/HDMI pin outs inside such devices that could be used to connect to. You need the matching controller chip for the screen to make it work, and you don't know if that chip could be hacked until you take the device apart. Then if it's not got a usable controller you've got an expensive paperweight.
Already forgotton :-D .... Lilliput looks like the thing im searcing for, going to order it next payday ... Was hoping at something thinner, but will be taking it apart, and see how big it really is ...
I'm not quite sure what you were looking to spend, but I used a SoundGraph FingerUI 700M in my Music Box build. Quite happy with the screen 7" Touchscreen, and 25mm thick. Powered by an adapter from the 24-pin motherboard connector, and has internal USB header for video connection. It also came with a few other things to plug in such as IR receiver, the button board, and button/wheel combo thing: http://www.soundgraph.com/oem-fingervu700m-feature-en/
That almost the same size as the Lilliput http://www.lilliputweb.net/index.php?Controller=User_Product&action=ShowProduct&product_id=88#Key Dimension(LWH):188×123×23.5mm/25.8mm(with touch panel) In my build that just pretty big :-( .... Just hate that you can get at much thinner tablet for the same price, with hardware ... http://www.ebay.de/itm/HYUNDAI-A7HD...50925070?pt=Laptops_Nov05&hash=item27c7823a0e All Winner A10: 1.0GHz, Cortex-A8; GPU: Mali-400 Display: IPS Resolution: 1024 x 600px, 169ppi Product Size: 174 x 118 x 8.9mm Come on, better screen, nice hardware and thinner = cost the same :-S ....
