    Help!
I'm trying to get the SMP (MPICH) client working on my E6650 @ 3ghz using Windows 7 64 bit.

    I get the following:

[20:52:41] + Attempting to get work packet
[20:52:41] - Will indicate memory of 4095 MB
[20:52:41] - Connecting to assignment server
    [20:52:41] Connecting to http://assign.stanford.edu:8080/
    [20:52:42] Posted data.
[20:52:42] Initial: 0000; + No appropriate work server was available; will try a
    gain in a bit.
    [20:52:42] + Couldn't get work instructions.
[20:52:42] - Attempt #2 to get work failed, and no other work to do.
    Waiting before retry.

Using client version 6.29 (got the MPI is working twice) and the arguments are -smp -verbosity 9
please can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong??

Sounds like a connection problem did you create the firewall exception when installing MPICH?

I don't think it's a connection problem on our side Tesla, Look at this:

I'm getting that for last 24 Hours or so. Tried adding all necessary permissions in firewall myself, uninstalled the AVG to have no firewall active, installed again, deleted my client, downloaded new from stanford. Nothing works, any ideas?

    Thanks for letting me know.

It doesn't preclude the fact that I might still have done something wrong though! If the problem ceases for either of you (Synay & Ginger Fox) could you please let me know so I can test again and see if I still have a problem.

That's annoying now. Loosing so many points. Out of curiosity - which antivirus/firewall are you guys running?

Any of my clients that have rolled over today are similarly failing to get new packets.

As you ask; a/v used is a mix of Symantec Endpoint and MSE. Firewall is centrally managed hardware.

It seems to me like the servers are out of WUs. Anyone at CPC have any thoughts on that? Lizard? anyone? :waah:

I will lose about 8000 points so far because of this. All my smp clients just manage to finish the wu in time but haven't been able to send the results in.

    Not happy !

How come I'm not getting anything? :wallbash:

Hell, at least I'm getting the second GTS 250 tomorrow, that will offset my frustration a bit. But I'm feeling the withdrawal symptoms here... :)

The -advmethods with passkey seems to have worked for me too. I seem to have downloaded a WU.

    Thanks Tesla

Could someone refresh my memory as to where do you get a passkey?
