It's time to upgrade from my over clocked 8800GTX as it did play bf3 on low but I'd like high settings to run smooth (1920x1080)
theres about £100 difference is some cards with clock speeds in favour of the 560. however the 570 having more core.

I honestly dont see how the 570 will bring more performance
    can somone enlighten me?

It's an interesting debate, this. I know that the 570 is faster, but most 560Ti's can now knock on the door.

Assuming you're Overclocking, however; the 570 will net you near GTX 580 grade performance if you get one that'll pull off a good OC, especially under water (Assuming you're going to add it to your current loop.)

Only issue might be that you'll have to buy a stock 570, else you'll have a fun time trying to find a Water Block that fits. Same with the 560ti.

    this should help

Personally I find the £80 price jump to a 570 too much for its quite minor performance boost.

For Battlefield 3, a 570 will have more memory to handle all the data, I'm playing it with a 560TI 1GB Ultra settings @1680x1050 and there is a little bit of occasional swapping, not enough for me to need to turn the settings down as it very rarely happens during action. any higher resolution and you would definitely benefit from the extra memory. Maybe go halfway with a 2GB 560 TI.

Get a 570 if you have the money. The 560Ti is a wonderful card, and it does overclock well, but the 570 is faster at stock and has more memory. People do get slightly too focused on bang-for-buck - at the end of the day though, the 570 will keep its value longer than the 560Ti. I have a 560Ti, I love it and it plays all my games at max at 1080p, but the 570 will be able to do that for longer.

The 2gb 6950 is a halfway house between the 560Ti and the 570 - that might be worth considering.

I bought my GTX 570 Asus card from Dabs at £239.99 from Dabs using discount code SAVER10 (save £10 when buying over £200). There is a KFA2 brand on there selling at £10 less - both with Arkham City too.

GTX 570 delivered @ £230 with Arkham City is pretty good.

+1 on the 570 @ £230 with Arkham City. Sounds like a brilliant deal.

Buying a 1GB card now is false economy. I have maxed the 1.3 gig on my 570 in half a dozen games already (and that was on 1680 x 1050 - I am at 1900 x 1200 now) and wish I had bought the 2.6 gig version.

Obviously this is now starting to creep out of your price range, but if you have any aspirations to play games at max settings over the next 1-2 years you will be happy that you bought a card with more than 1 gig.

For example, the 2 gig version of this popular card is £209

I ordered the same card yesterday for my brother, hopefully it will be a monster overclocker.

^ Running without any personal OC (just the pre overclocked setting Asus sets if any):
Metro 2033 DX11 Max settings (apart from x4 AA which is down to AAA) @ 1080p with a i5 750@3.3ghz. That is to get absolute solid FPS with no frame drops at all or stutters even at the more demanding areas of the game. Safe to say it is a beast of a card without OC.

My EVGA 570 1.3Gb has never been past 60% VRAM usage on a 2560 x 1440 res screen on games such as Crysis and JC2....

With respect, Crysis was released in 2007 and Just Cause 2 is a console port (albeit a very good one with PC optimisations).

There are plenty of modern games that will max your VRAM

    Crysis 2
    Aliens Vs Predator
    GTA 4
    Shogun 2

And BF3 on the highest settings is aimed at cards with 1.5 GB + (source: http://www.bit-tech.net/news/hardware/2011/10/25/behind-the-scenes-of-battlefield-3/1)

I am not saying that a lot of games will require that much video memory, but some will.

If you are planning on a card to carry you over the next 1 - 2 years at 1080P then 1 gig is short sighted.

Of course if funds are low then a mid range card with 1 gig is acceptable, but if funds allow a higher end piece of hardware then aim higher than 1 gig of VRAM.
