Yeh, stealthing rox, but it's hard. I spend about a solid week (working) trying to get the cd-rom to be stealth. That does not include sodering
My mac did not have face plates, and I do not have a dremell (I borrowed one and practiced. The results were awful). So then I just took a saw and sawed it out. Took a week. It's much harder when you do not have blank bezels and you have to make your own.
Good for you Happy modding The dreamel I borrowed was a really old one that was not digital. Basicly i tried to cut plexiglass strait and it went all over the place!
I am thjinking it might be a better idea ot buy a case like this - http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduct.asp?DEPA=&submit=Go&description=11-156-008 flip it on the side, and redo the bezel. I may get the VU meter tomarrow, if I can convince my mom to get it.
I have one of those. Look in my sig for the link to my website and check out my main rig Anyway: These cases are hard to mod, HEAVY as hell, and not mod friendly. If you have questions about that case ask me, but I do not think that it will do well in your project
Heavy is good, this will have a stack of stereo components on it. I am not going to do too much modding, mostly iwht the front (lose hydraulic stuff and make it a HTPC) My concern is the 5.25" bays being ripped out and rotated 90*
Are you going to give it an aluminum look? Last time I checked the 5 1/2 bays are non-removable. Maybe this is a new version.
I mean pretty much drawing a square around the bays, cutting them out with mah new jigsaw, and nailing it b ack on. I won't touch the sides, as there will be things stacked on it.
Or a 4 5.25" bay case and make a custom drive cage that will take up 4 bays and give you 3 rotated bays.
Seems everyone on my block is throwing away puters. I found an old AT desktop case out for the trash (the same place I picked up a 17" compaq monitor a few weeks ago) and decided to use that... I can't find the CPU and the PSU will have to be external, but it should work. Someone got very angry at it, half the stuff has been ripped out. If you're wondering about the title, I have also liberated fairly recently (within the past few months) Bradford IC FET amplifier Yorx CD player 4 bradford speakers JVC Solid State amp 2 JVC speakers 2 Sears floor speakers 17" Compaq Monitor 17" Gateway monitr a pair of Altec Lansing/Gateway speakers AT desktop case ANd of course, a 19" working Dell Trinitron monitor. Now I have a dual monitor setup, my 21" Compaq Diamondtron and the Dell 19" Trinitron. MUHAHAHA Pics forthcoming.
